yes but that doesnt change the fact that their information policy is horrible..
First of all lets look at the basic facts here and start with the OS, it is based on linux and has no structure whatsoever and the very reason for that is it was meant for development purposes and Nokia knew this right from the start but did a very bad job of marketing out the so called flagship qualities that has now become apparent, looking at the very first video's they churned out it is very clear they are cleverly put together to entice every kind of end user on this planet and that was wrong to do now that we have finally seen the way they have supported this device.
The os of the N900 is a basic platform to get the device up and running so development could take place, problem is it is NOT open source as the drivers are closed source so there is the first problem because you simply can not write software without ALL drivers being openly available.
Because of the open structure of the simple os the future development
without proper protection to the basic platform was inevitably going to wreck havoc on the os and as we all know the amount of "help me i bricked my device" threads has proven that.
Development has to be worked on as a TEAM and not by individuals making apps without some kind of os structure plan in place making sure apps do not harm the basic functions of the os within the device itself.
The BIGGEST problem on this forum is the variety of members who basically throw abuse at each other simply because they have for what ever reason feel they have the right to do so and that includes some of the moderators comments which in fact do indeed flame any situation out of hand.
The basic design of the N900 is doomed to die simply because advancement has over run it and also the flaw with the usb port itself.
The N900 is and can only be a tool for development and will never reach maturity in the Meamo world as that is also now apparent to die off.
Somewhere in the future might well come together a solid os with all the apps ported and usable but it is obvious once that stage has been reached the N900 will be in fact so old in hardware that it will be pointless to programme as far better devices will be available.
Ok it was worth a try but failed miserably because Nokia never gave full support to anyone at all and has simply gone to better more productively earning potential idea's that will leave the N900 behind.
When people finally realise this then the selfish and non productive arguments might just stop on this forum.
Better to throw argument criticism at the maker NOKIA ! and leave free thought and freedom of speech to everyone adding comments on this forum WITHOUT trying to fry them for it!.
So for me its a double letdown... Nokia and the so called support and the actions being allowed on this forum to rip anyone to bits because they do not agree with something said.
