It will be the standard MeeGo with Hildon Desktop instead of MeeGo's default UX. So its look will resemble Maemo, yes.

I am doing my Hildon to plain GTK+ porting under openSUSE, so I had to build and install dependency packages to my system.

So since these are already ready I might as well share them.
See http://codex.xiaoka.com/pub/maego/openSUSE/
This will be gradually filling with packages as I make them.


P.S. You will need http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...openSUSE_11.3/ because of Clutter dependency on GTK+ 2.2.26.

This is running on Clutter 1.5.8 under openSUSE.

BTW, we need a free hildon-theme for Maego. I'm using hildon-theme-marina (Mer default theme) for now, but it lacks wow-factor.
Which theme would you recommend?

I've tested many themes on my N900. But in the end I'm still using the Matrix-style Hildon theme. It's still the best readable in any kind of conditions and in addition to it looks very good.
Perhaps you could modify it a little bit (other backgrounds) to remove everything that looks like parts from the matrix movies? (you're developing Maego and not a Matrix distribution. )

Next question is: The icons?

Are we allowed to use Nokia icons? I guess not, so we need to find a free icon theme that we could use. How did Mer solved this?

I'd be happy to let you use my custom theme based off the best of dlivil's work and my own ideas. Will post some links when i get back home.
