I'm using the "3G/2G/Dual Mode" widget to shift the cell phone down to 2G mode most of the time, and that seems to help quite a bit on battery time for me. Then again, I'm kinda used to always keeping my battery powered devices plugged in -- I've got both an old iPhone and an older iPod, so I'm not used to a world where you can replace batteries that no longer hold a charge.
There is a wiki page with tons of power-saving tricks:

I'm only really using the phone for texting and internet browsing in the school and the battery seemed to drain pretty quick after being fully charged this morning.
I'll do love this phone however the downside to it is battery life and I wont have the space to carry round an extra battery.
Also does the amount of windows I have opened?

install power kernel/settings und cpu freq. then use ###IDEAL###-preset
you will have a much more smoother fun + a lot more battery power!
mine lasts now on
LOW user: 48 HOURS !!!
AVERAGE use: 24 HOURS !!
High use: 10 HOURS !!!
just perfect now!
Short version:
2.5G connection... it's an either/or, one at a time (data or voice) situation.
3.5G connection... you can do both (data and voice) simultaneously.
Of course if the connection drops from 3.5G to 2.5G while you're on the phone, you may lose either connection.
