Haha he didnt say he doesnt want it its just stupid and ignorant to think DE will have Flash or any other proprietary software

That being said I would also like to kindly remind you that there is high chance DE wont have Ovi Store ( or Microsoft marketplace? ) and Ovi Maps in other words pretty much any Nokia/MS services

I assume everyone saw the front page article on maemo.org which states that Nokia have officially announced that they will provide meego for the N900 officially.

Exactly, but if it will not have Flash support, I don't care.

Oh Flash. Proprietary poison of the web are thee.

I wish we were past this nonsense, but it looks like we're still in the old "Made for Internet Explorer" days, only instead of IE it's Flash and Adobe is holding the reins now.

What part of "if you don't like it, don't use it" don't you understand?

Are you Steve Jobs?
Did god talk to you in your sleep and told you to get rid of the evil that is Flash?

But like IE6 of old, I'm finding myself in positions where I have no choice.

Are you Steve Jobs?
No, but he's not wrong.

No, but it's obvious that proprietary technologies like Flash are a threat to the openness of the web. We could get an HTML 5 compliant browser on MeeGo but still find ourselves blocked from many websites due to Flash.

Well, I am a web designer and I work for an e-learning company.

Our modules are all HTML with a voice over, some roll overs and sometimes some videos (yes it's FLV).

Unfortunately some of our biggest clients are still using IE5 and IE6.
I don't have to tell you how hard it is to make things work and look the same on all browsers.

At the end of our modules we have a quiz that after completed the user fills out a form, sends their results to our server and prints out a certificate of completion. It's all in Flash. Guess why? IT LOOKS THE SAME EVERYWHERE!

You know what problems we have with that quiz?
- Users that don't have Flash installed on their browser (a hand full in thousands)
- Users that don't have access to a printer. We just go to the database and email them a pdf copy.

Yeah, Steve Jobs is the defender of openness, that's why he wants to make a proprietary video codec the standard for HTML5.

If there is a website you want to access that uses Flash and you don't have it, it's your own fault you own a device that doesn't support it.

That's like buying a media player that plays every known audio format but cannot play MP3.
And yes MP3 is very outdated, I prefer other formats.

3. Notification light (super useful as we all know)
4. HW Keyboard. (well, I guess this will work. hehe)
5. GPS (and possibly OVI maps? doubt it right?)
6. WLAN
7. USB Mass Storage (both emmc and mmc1)
8. Accelerometer
9. 3D Acceleration (OpenGL ES etc)

Can't think of much more. lol

From hardware adaptation, not UI:

1) Already works, I saw an awesome demo - front camera ("webcam") still in progress, but the big camera is the one of actual use.
2) Already works
3) Already works
4) Already works
5) Works for non-AGPS but still in labs due to us needing legal approval to redistributable bits. Who'd want to use Ovi Maps?
6) Works
7) Works (but we don't have a switcher dialog in UI)
8) Works
9) Works

Yeah, that one was an over-interpretation which didn't actually say what the mail said.
