if you don't have i suggest you buys one (N8 or C6-01) then play around with it...
BTW, you might know me then, Mr Pingu from SF and DM

Filesystem and how folders are ordened doesn't matter, just create a new partition (multiple, you know zdrive). Symbian isn't linux you know but you can also boot an windows and a linux on a pc

What I am trying to say is you might create the conditions for symbian to run on the SDcard (symbian partitions)

The hardware can run symbian, only booting in it is a problem because it has a different bootloader than maemo and maemo is closes source =(

but if we start to build the symbian bootloader for our N900 we could run symbian. Except that we can't boot maemo anymore, I think. It's something like that windows bootloader can't boot linux, while linux can boot linux and windows. In our situation it's the problem that the maemo bootloader can't boot symbian and vice versa. In theory if you manage to let the symbian bootloader run on our N900 we could boot symbian in it's full glory

if you wanna know 98% of all apps on symbian is not free & 100% of them need a certificates if you want to install it...only a hacked/modded symbian system can install apps without having a certificates but still those apps need to be cracked first...
how to hacked/modded symbian??? well you need to own one symbian phone first....you need to test your hacked/modded symbian before you can try to port it on our beloved N900...
why you need to test hacked/modded symbian??? you needed because hacked/modded symbian is much better than the unhacked/modded symbian...try porting the unhacked/modded symbian to N900 will be a disaster for you....
Thought you knew more about symbian :O

Files itself are nothing You should read a book called Symbian OS internals to understand the kernel under symbian

I'm no longer working on this. As I've written somewhere, I couldn't do it. I was very enthusiastic but it was just too hard for me. Maybe I'll do something someday, but as for now, I'll focus on MeeCoLay and Qt/QML programming.

it doesn't have to be monsterfail
well, at least since all symbian is out in wildness though it would be really nice to see it on maemo/meego devices.
