So what seems to be the problem? The video codec used skype video is VP8 and open source. Peregrine is also open source.
We just need someone wizz to put these things together and we have skype video calling?

Open source e-mail client is needed simply because it's not available anywhere else, for example on Nemo OS running on the same device [N9(50)], or any future upcoming device with mobile Linux. And in general it's better to use open source software when possible.

It seems fenix is only an interface to the Qt Mobility framework, so maybe building one in Qt/QML is not so hard?
