sudo chown -R user /home/user/
(or /home/user/Downloads assuming the program is writing to the 'blank' which is owned by root)
should do the trick before packaging. You could change ownership to user of all other files if in doubt.

I am not sure where to put those lines (and I doubt I am packing it again. I can provide the sourcecode if anyone wants to develop it further but there's not much of things than starting from scratch but yet its worth if you mention where to put those lines just in case some other guy is also having same trouble or I have some spare time and intention to develop the program further).

It should work fine with direct download link (can not guarantee others will work). I tried downloading a file from nitdroid website under e-yes directory and it does works.

As I told this has very basic features only and do not expect much from this app, totally underdeveloped app.

Just from looking through the .deb you posted: all the files in it are owned by root, which might make sudo necessary. As a download manager escalation shouldn't be required. You can either 'chown user file.extension' all the project files, or 'chown -R user directorywhichyoupackaged' before dpkg-build to change ownership to user. Shouldn't require sudo then (then again, not sure if scratchbox will allow that, on device should work, so postinst chown might be a better idea, someone with experience with SB could chime in)

I tried using gprs once, it did worked. Try this simple link (very small file in case you are paying for gprs depending upon the data used):

http://downloads.nitdroid.com/e-yes/market_fix.tar.bz2

As I wrote, the app might not work with complex url or url redirecting etc. etc. I merely used the app seriously.
