I got a response only after resending the same email each time with the additional "THIS IS THE 3RD EMAIL WITHOUT RESPONSE" bit using caps and bold. Then finally I threatened to copy BBC's Watchdog in on the mail and got a reply. I would suggest a similar threat involving Trading Standards regarding advertising "Exclusivity" would also work.

My main moan is that I don't mind waiting I was checking my order was ok as it was still showing as "New" rather than "Pending Stock"... they seem to think everyone is after eta's and therefore ignore everyone.

Personally I'm giving them till December 3rd plus shipping before I start to get really pissed off.

Hehe i've only sent one email in and i got a response within an hour - but then the response was rubbish and they didn't acknowledge half my questions.....

Watchdog probably won't look into it unless they get hundreds/thousands of requests. The trading standards should - especially over the exclusive claim - but probably wouldn't over the poor service part

Good to see you're all keeping a good record of contact with them though - best way

I have a case number with the ASA as I have already complained to them about the false advertising.
I would like everyone to do the same as the more people who do it the harder they will investigate. It won't get our n900's to us any quicker, but it will stop them doing this again...

Hi Moley,

If you don't mind answering - what did MPD say about your order status of "new".
I'm interested because mine has been "New(Other)" since I ordered (Sept 23) and after three emails I still have not had a reply.
I'm desperately trying to convince myself that a status of "new(Other)" - does not mean "ignore-this-order"

"New" means the Credit Check has not been completed. You probably have a bad credit rating so it cant be processed.

To be fair, I'm sure if MPD shipped this week and stuck in a free little charger or bluetooth headphones like NFS not too many people would be bothered with their lack of communication and exclusivity claims.

I wouldn't be too fussed, but then again the times I've emailed them I've received generic rubbish not really answering any questions and nothing but short answers on live chat.

It's understandable that MPD are getting swamped and Nokia wasn't too helpful but if they didn't give exclusive claims and say every week "deliveries coming this week!" we wouldn't be too fussed.

The thing is I can only imagine the amount of customers the N900 brought to MPD as they were the only people offering the N900 on contract as pre-order. Following the current situation alot of the custom they've gained has been lost again and I really can't see many people recommending them. I wouldn't.

Interesting how they seem to be processing orders in different ways. I ordered on Oct 25th - upgrade to my existing contract, 18 months, £39 per month, £77.98 up front including £3.99 delivery. I saw the £77.98 being held on my bank account, i.e. difference between actual balance and available balance was £77.98. This lasted for about 5 days and then went away. I've not seen a transaction for £2 or any other amount since then from MPD and my order went straight to 'pending stock'.

This has been the first time I've pre-ordered anything, I think I can safely say it will be the last.
