The reason for this maintenance is to add a new set of metadata which will improve the Ovi Store user experience.

Linked from that page is some interesting news.

The May 2010 figures for which devices are visiting the Ovi Store. N900 is in the top 10 for four countries including the UK and the USA.

Mind you, that's not downloads. That's visits. That may just be me optimistically looking for new stuff each day. And then being disappointed.

Maybe I am missing something but it's annoying that you can only buy something from the ovi using your phone even though its actually a credit card purchase. Would be handy to buy something using a normal desktop system then send the download link to the phone or just log into ovi on the phone and get it from there.

If you know how to use the terminal (as root)

try:
Code:
apt-get install earthcomber
except:

Code:
apt-get update
apt-cache search earthcomber

I get the same problem as Jayhule and Ovi Store worked for me earlier today. Ovi Store doesn't work fine for everyone at the same time.

I have seen this error message before and eventually Ovi Store works again WITHOUT changing any settings. Also, I use the built in icon in the menu and the desktop icon AND the nokia generated Ovi Store bookmark and they all end up at the device not supported page.

Once again, this happens from time to time so oh well. In my case, it is not from a settings error.

Would be nice if the store reopened with Jurassic on the shelves.....

And Jurassic comes out and its $5, we'll have a new set of complaints about it not being worth the price
