Guys, guys, guys hold your peace. How can a manufacturer manufacture a device with such a powerful capability and still warn not to be use. Then why such a feature in the phone if it cannot run such a range by overlocking. So i think because the manufacturer don't have much confident that's why a precaution note was made not to be overlock because it might break said the manufacturer.

Anyway, I only used faster than "ideal" speed settings when playing some large RMVB files (no hardware acceleration decoding, so they need cpu power). Normal conditions in "ideal" settings (hard working with GPS/music/browsing) did never show reboots; apparently the random reboots happened only while accessing the 30Gb data partition.

I bought my second N900 a few days ago. I overclocked it with "ideal" (850MHz) settings, soon experiencing random reboots, mostly when accessing that 30Gb storage while playing music (it often reboots in the middle of a specific MP3 song which plays without problems when at 600MHz). Also, it appears to show more heat than its predecessor...

Thus, IMHO I guess that slowing a bit the eMMC access (by reengineering its driver) could consistently reduce "random reboots" when overclocking.
woah....try other settings.....i only got random reboots on "ideal" if the voltage goes more than 60 or if frequency is more than 1000mhz.

too much heat @ 850/1000mhz (ideal settings)

30mins of video streaming boosted my battery temp to 48 degrees C!

Hey guys, since last maxcpu widget update, overclocking doesn't work at all, do you have the same problem?

Not sure about the temps coz I never care about battery being hot as battery temperature really has nothing to do with CPU temperature. (battery gets just as hot even at stock clock speed when phone is constantly under load) I run mine at 1.1GHz constant and have no issues playing an xvid video for an hour straight. I do this nearly everyday on the way to work and on the way back home.

But yeah, results will vary depending on the N900. Guess I have a fairly good sample.

i just got so suprised at my post you quoted.....because that was my first time I reached that temp.

constant @1.1ghz and stable? how awesome! i

or maybe.....because before overclocking, I do not monitor battery temperature so if the phone goes hot, i dont care or notice it and assume its normal for its not overclocked.

I use the savecpu program, which I have set by the default to turn off overclocking if the temp ever goes over 50 centigrade. It never has. I'm not worried about temp anyway, but I like the program.

use it too!!! and its awesome! with the led flashing effect!

hmmm....is there an app that triggers and activates one of my custom profiles/settings in case of battery temp? or can QBW do that? searching........

My default config is: FREQS="0:20,90 900:56,500"
Now, when I run "kernel-config limits 1000 1000" what voltage is 1000 using? 56? 72?
