A few weeks ago I was whining here about my brand new N900, which featured unexpected reboots when overclocked above 600 MHz (yes, a couple reboots even at 700 MHz, and yes, reboots even in "ideal" settings... reboots almost always happening when accessing the 32Mb eMMC).

I now found that these commands did not yet show any unexpected reboot (at least in the last 4 days):

kernel-config load lv
kernel-config limits 250 850

Today I was able to backup 3+Gb movies via rsync on wifi at 1.3-1.4 megabytes/sec sustained speed (three times faster than USB networking) without experiencing reboots.
LV gives me the boots you suffer from while ideal is the one that is stable for me......so every device is different.....its a hit-and-miss when you enter into OC'ing the n900.

I'm probably an idiot need help.

I downloaded the settings file from the testing repository.

when i enter sudo /usr/sbin/kernel-config show

I get: this kernel version 2.6.28-omap1 is not supported.

with the reinstall prompt.

I uninstalled it using the directions on the wiki but still get that error.

when i reinstall the flasher it works but on reboot i get the same message.

I know, I can't seem to get the titan kernel to run no matter what I try.

I'm having the same issue. Installed from FAM. Rebooted. Ran kernel-config show. It told me it wasn't supported. Ran the re-install command, rebooted same thing.

Try this:

apt-get install kernel-power*

This should get and install 6 packages. One you don't need but we'll get to that after. If it complains that some are already installed, use --reinstall or use remove and the install again.

My best guess is you managed to get kernel package over but didn't flash it.

Also, reboot after.

ETA:
You may want to copy the output so we can have a look at it?

I eventually managed to fix it after removing it all and reinstalling from the CLI.

just a question:

1. whenever i configure the kernel profiles, they show the frequencies of i.e. active frequencies: 0:30,90 1000:60,500 whereby 90 and 500 are the frequencies for the 2nd cpu right?

2. can we overclock that one and what are the dos and don'ts or warnings to take note if we plan to do it?

thanks

There is no second CPU. N900 is a single core machine. Significance of kernel-config show is in the wiki for kernel power. Namely, DSP.

Please read thoroughly before overclocking.

As for DOs and DON'Ts, here' a few: DON'T pin your CPU to 1000/1000. DO read the wiki cover to cover regarding OC, KP, maybe a general overclocking guide. At 1000 MHz, a billion operations are done by the CPU, hyped up like a hamser on espresso every time you tap the power button to check time.

But then again, it's your device and you are free to fry it as you see fit
