Laughingstock, you bring up a very good point.
Blackberries are more the target for N900 aspirations than iPhones. If the N900 can gain corporate interest and then adoption, local IT staff can insulate average users from the device complexities.
The N900 is more of a step up from Blackberries than iPhones. This thread just drove that home for me.

There's a commercial in there somewhere. Texrat and I have been on the same page here; even though I believe the evolution of Maemo could cause Apple some problems, the professional scenarios like you've described could certainly perform a RIM job.

Get called at 5:30 AM this morning to fix a WebLogic problem we were having. So I answer my phone, tell the operators I'll take care of the issue and hang up.
Flip open the phone, click on my quick link to VPNC which I have loaded my .pcf file onto from my work laptop, and quickly connect to my works VPN.
Once there, I open up my terminal and ssh to the adminstrative AIX box where I have written some scripts to automate a lot of my Weblogic administration tasks.
I connect to the AIX box, fire off my script, watch as the problem resolves itself, and go back to bed for a bit.
The phone alarm kicks off at 7:20 AM. I get up, take a shower, head to work.
Sit down, link up my phone to the USB adapter connected to my laptop, and sync all my calendar information in Lotus Notes. Meanwhile I check my personal Gmail email, fire up the radio and listen to my morning radio show via headphones.
For fun, I connect my phone into work on the VPN again and open up VNC viewer to connect to my primary LDAP machine which runs on Linux, and I have KDE running on it. So I login to it with VNC Viewer on my phone and play around just because I can and show some friends at work.

Boy, you guys are giving me free entertainment...
First of all "God", thanks for the brain link. Was this the place that you found yours? If so I will pass... Your signature gives me bad vibes about your intelligence. (and its not funny)
Didnt know that you needed this "extensive review" to make up your mind... good for you man.
@DaveP1 I didnt say that no one should criticize the device either what I said is that there are PLACES to make constructive criticism in form of bug reports or whatever... And yes, the "I am very happy with my N900 cos..." should also not be posted either. Otherwise, this forum will be just "reviews" and "rants".
And useless posts like "God"'s. Have you met him? Funny guy, not very lucky with da l4dies though.

(this is, of course, assuming future firmware updated fix the issues most common mentioned).

An easy hang-up button, either using the power button as a hang up button when talking or whatever.. I was just on a conference call with the phone and it worked brilliantly. At the same time I received two SMS messages from my wife which I was able to reply to real time because I had the phone on speaker. When it was time to hang up, I had to fumble around to get back to the phone app so I could hang up.
Probably sounded funny to the others on the call.

If you don't know how to check your N900's uptime, you probably shouldn't own it.
