I think something else is going on because TOR has no knowledge of whether texting is enabled for a forwarding number or not. Mind PMing me your log? "~/.telepathy-theonering/theonering.log"

As I thought you might have meant and my statement still applies.

I just got my invite today and would love to try this, although I have PR1.2 installed. Do you know if it will work with PR1.2? Thanks

I do not know. I have a prerelease device which requires special firmware so I haven't had the chance to upgrade yet. I cannot see a reason TOR would not be able to run in of itself but I cannot say that for one of its dependencies (I depend on one of the other chat protocols for its UI)

TOR and DC both work in PR 1.2
It may be my imagination, but TOR seems to be working even better now with PR 1.2

Ok, am testing this out right now. Have a quick question, how do I send a sms? I clicked on the New IM, the select contact come up but I got nothing in there. Is there a way to send SMS by typing in the phone number?

1. Open contacts app, search contact look for "Google Voice IM"
2. Open conversations app, select "New IM", search contact, select contact detail
3. Use DC, enter number and click SMS.

I guess if you want to send an SMS to an arbitrary number (thats not present in GV address book) then DC is your only option: #3.

1) When I open the contact app. All i have is Phone, SMS, and Call through Google Voice
2) Under Conversation app. New IM, Select Contact dialog come up, I dont' see any contact or contact detail. It said, (no contacts)
3) I like this integration apps more than DC, but if this don't work out I might have to use DC..

Also, do you know why when I receive a sms. I got duplication messages in my Conversations app?

Duplicates would be a bug and once we work through the other issues, remind me about it so we can work together to resolve it.

There are several ways of doing things:
  • Through system contacts. This is a contact with a telephone number. Due to a bug in Maemo (as far as I can tell) they only let me have one button here so its for calls.
  • Through GV contacts. All of your GV contacts with numbers should be in your contact list. They should have a Call and an SMS button.
  • Through Phone/Conversations. Phone works by entering number and switching call type to "Google Voice" or something. Conversations works by going to the menu, selecting "Send IM to", selecting your GV account for "User Account" and manually entering the phone number into the "To" field.

I believe the last item on bullet 3 is what you are looking for.

Yup, bullet 3 is exactly what am looking for. It would be kool if this could be done. When click on New IM from Conversation app, there is a field that allow you to enter a phone number( just above the Select Contact text) and the Google contacts still appear below it!
Anyway, looking forward to getting the duplicate message issue resolve. Nice program. Thanks

Also on the side note about the system contact only allow one button. Can this be done? Am not a coding guru, actually I know nothing about coding so please don't yell at me. It just a though. Can you have the template for that only one button and somehow overlay two small button(link?) on top of it? Maybe one for Call and one for SMS?
