But again great work and keep it up!
Dial through GV has worked for a long while.

As for the second part you mention, see http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=519

When I am using sip, I would like the callback to come to my sip number, but everywhere else I would like the callback to come to my tmobile number.
The callback can be modified through the nickname and through advanced. Beyond that I'm fairly limited in what I can do with the UI but if you have suggestions I'd appreciate them

I take it by offline you mean off-data but not voice? I'm unsure how practical it is to implement such a feature with TOR. I think Google does it with an API that I don't have access to while for me would require auto-calling a cell number, and pumping DTMF tones into it to enter a password I'd have to get from the user and then enter the number. I think it'd be best to leave that as an exercise for a stand-alone app rather than an integrated one.

Yeah thats what i was talking about. So to use the "call thru GV" I have to be online, I can't use it straight from the contacts? is that correct?

More so that suspect there are implementation details that would prevent it from smoothly integrating with TOR. It would be best as a stand alone app like DIalcentral

Just installed TOR this morning. This was the key linchpin that allowed me to go with a data-only cellphone plan. I can't thank you enough for it.

Alas, I'm currently experiencing two problems with using TOR for sending/receiving GV SMS messages:

(1) Sometimes my incoming messages don't show up on the phone. They show up on GV's webpage but never make it to my phone. I tried adjusting the polling time but that didn't seem to help. I've been in my office using the same wifi connection all morning so it's not like I didn't have internet access when the messages were sent. Is there something obvious that I'm missing here or is this just a known problem with TOR?

(2) I have another problem where all of my outbound GV SMS messages in Conversation through TOR are getting labeled with a random person from my contact list rather than my name. I've submitted a report in Bugzilla but I wanted to check here to see if anybody else has experience this. Here is a screenshot of the problem; note that my name is neither BP or LM and that I am sending messages to KB.

Thanks again.

It is really nice being data only

I've heard about this and I'm wanting to work on it but its one of those fun things of finding the right test case or the right information to log to the log file

I think this is Nokia's issue. I'll hunt through b.m.o when I'm not at work to see double check that

Now unfortunately it looks like no messages are showing up at all. I tried deleting the acct and starting over, we'll see whether that works.

Does it mater if I have the GV webage open at the same time? Will it only grab unread messages?

If this problem continues, I am more than willing to help you debug it.

TOR and Dialcentral work independent of the web browser.

TOR has some annoying logic because of issues with GV. When google threads a conversation and a new item comes in, they mark the whole conversation as unread so I can't rely on that. They also automatically mark things as read when you reply. The problem is if you have an active conversation with someone, you might send them a message before you check for the new one, making it so you don't see their message as unread. Again, another reason to not rely on if they mark something as read.

So I have to do all of my own "is read" tracking which is prone to issues especially since I don't want the cache of messages I keep to grow forever

Hi,

First of all great software. I am still learning.

I have two phones in my Google Voice. I labeled them like this
Work
Home

But somehow I cannot set my callback through nickname field. It always pick Work. And When I send sms my nick appears as Work phone number. I am not sure why it cannot match "home" nick with "home" label from Google voice. Any ideas?

Currently you have to enter the phone number itself. That would be an interesting feature request to use the callback nicknames. Feel free to file it.
