Finally got round to test fMMS ver. 0.3.1 (as a follow up to my previous test of ver. 0.2.8). Here's what I've got:
[*]Sending MMS to wife's SonyEricsson S500i stripped text again with that weird "Text fMMSpart6306 was deleted due to: no legal rules found for this media (-1)" message.
[*]Auto-receiving messages works like a charm! Both from self, as well as wife's SE. But condition is that I'm manually connected via GPRS/3G, of course - otherwise fMMS tries to open MMS forever...
[*]Odd "AAAA" button is gone from received messages, which is great plus.[*]Sent messages don't display my avatar in the list. Avatars are only displayed at received messages.
[*]Usability note: would it be possible to sort "Open file" list while adding attachment by date / newest first? It's quite inconvenient to scroll all the way down to reach the latest picture taken by camera.

Really weird - for me it times out after x seconds - do you press the SMS Push notification to launch the UI to get this behavior?
Great idea - I'll have to look in to this, hopefully it's doable (but python-hildon bindings are a bit buggy w.r.t. filechooserdialog I'm afraid).
In other news, I managed to setup my gprs connection without the rest of the phone knowing it, and managed to send/receive MMS while the rest of the phone thought I was on wlan :) Just need to figure out how the hell I'm suppose to automate it :D

Finally got round to test fMMS ver. 0.3.1 (as a follow up to my previous test of ver. 0.2.8). Here's what I've got:
- Sorted out APNs on device, basically I have deleted "T-Mobile MMS" profile and added proxy address to main "T-Mobile Internet" profile, leaving "Use proxy" tickbox unchecked. That way same APN profile serves for general internet browsing as well as sending/receiving MMS.

So basically you don't have to manually change connection, right :D. Can you make some screen shot of the setting ;)

Basically, T-Mobile UK uses exactly the same APN (general.t-mobile.uk) for both general internet browsing and handling MMS messages. The only difference is the proxy, which is not used for general browsing, but is required for MMS. Since fMMS always uses proxy, regardless if "Use proxy" checkbox is set or not, it's quite easy to use the same APN profile for both internet and MMS - add proxy IP address and port to the profile but keep "Use proxy" checkbox un-ticked.
When I've had a separate "T-Mobile MMS" profile set in device, some apps like browser or email client sometimes tried to use it to connect to the internet, which obviously didn't work, as proxy did not pass non-MMS traffic through. I've had to manually reconnect with "T-Mobile Internet" profile, which obviously wasn't very convenient at all.
Anyhow, I generally think it's NOT right way of handling this in Maemo 5. What I'd rather love to see is native way of configuring multiple GPRS/3G connection profiles (by native I mean via regular system's control panel, not 3rd party apps like fAPN) with some sort of categorisation/priority, ie. where I could set that profile ABC is default profile for general browsing and XYZ profile is just for MMS.
