Thanks, Lumiaman.

Ah, it's Asha lifting Nokia again. Looks like it's surprising even Nokia management who only looked to Lumia and expected a loss. ;p

Yeah. What the hell? First +10% and now -3% in Helsinki. They beat all expectations and even turned a profit..

It's not good enough. They turned a weak profit in the face of a LOT of losses (patents, employees, etc.). My bet is that shrinking the business still doesn't look good if the trending shows more shrinking, even if you're shrugging off possessions to look profitable.

But what's up with the first +10% and then -3%..

I saw an analyse that called the numbers from Nokia "gruesome", so there seems to be a spit jury on the verdict. Either way, relying on the Asha sales for a profit is a bitter victory... $60-$100? These aren't lower end feature phones - which means they're rapidly gaining competition by lower end Android phones. Also, it means that they're gaining in a segment where parts of the competition has already been pulling out. I almost said where even Nokia itself has been pulling out (Symbian).

Here's more from Forbes:

The Forbes article is explaining the rollercoaster, as well.

I think it time for apple to make move on Nokia soon. They would get nokia very cheap. The would get excellent map functions instantly and big patent portfolio. They would even **** with Microsoft in a way never seen before

They would get 100,000 employees they don't want. There are other mapping companies that come cheaper. And Microsoft already got their clammy hands on Nokias patent portfolio. That's what "that" $1b was all about.

As it is, they (Nokia and Microsoft) have a joint patent troll they (Nokia) are shifting patents into, as we speak.

That is true, there are always downsides with all over-takings. Nokia will have to keep firing w orkers. It really no difference.

But look at the upside it could be a really good move. There are several directions apple could move nokia to.

There are also lots of hits on the subject.
