I might be a bit late to the party in solving this bug, but I couldn't find anything. I've found the culprit to the music and status bar bugs where it takes ages to load. @kaien from twitter helped narrow it down.
Use GConfik to disable the orientation widget, then restart. No more lag when opening the status bar nor when opening Music for the first time.

for me doesn't work, what am i doing wrong?
i unsetted the orientation and then putted 0 to index value: nothing changes (music still takes a lot to load) and after reboot everything is like before
