Don't you miss him? Its been almost a month since he's gone AWOL and the only time he posted was to inform about his $100 donation to HiFo and wishing luck; I wonder if that was indeed him or his split personality

So Zopo makes Samsung rip-offs? From some of the reviews seems like quality devices might be good.

I'm kind of intrigued by these Chinese mobile companies that we here in West so easily call shitty.
And granted many of them do have that nasty habit of copying Android, Nokia and Apple devices, but i'm still interested to see what they can do with Sailfish.

Specifications usually seem to be up there.

A bit off topic, but:

"While the Zopo spokesperson did not elaborate on the phone's specifications, it is expected to get very high end specifications, and is likely to feature ST-Ericsson's latest NovaThor platform (CPU), and probably a quad core version of the platform that was announced recently. Sailfish operating system is based on Meego operating system, which was jointly developed by Nokia, Intel and Linux, and was later abandoned by Nokia in favour of Windows Phone OS. "

Sounds promising...

NovaThor was kind of expected.

Yeah but I'm not sure if it's going to be this one....

STE is supposedly only shipping samples to partners this quarter...
If Zopo's planning to have theirs our before Jolla, then it's probably less impressive silicon.
Which isn't surprising, given that they've generally focused on the cheap (but fairly top-end specs) Android segment.
Even Jolla would be "cutting it fine" to get their ph out by the end of Summer if they're using the L8580.

Then there's the small problem of STM purportedly having financial issues, like possibly quite serious ones.
Then again, I'm not sure exactly how that translates to STE, as STM's supposedly selling their stake in STE.
Whereas Ericsson has not (at least yet) announced any such plans, nor do they intend to buy STM's 50% stake.
Which may mean STE longer-term is merged back into Ericsson, & becomes focused more around modems & not complete SoCs.
If they both manage to kick-on but go their separates ways, I guess that doesn't mean they'll stop supporting STE SoC's.
I just hope it doesn't prevent STE's latest silicon from making it to end devices, otherwise Jolla/Sailfish could be "up **** creek".
