if mine breaks god help nokia. seems very tight and i cant see this happening. when u say it was bent to one side how is that possible??????? it doesnt look like it could move left or right only out. would love to see a pic.


feel bad for u guys i would faint

why dont u guys also just shave the edges off the charger or usb cable so it doesnt lock into the port but rather just sits there. im talking about the two little pins or eather side

hmmm......as usual, the nokia representative that i e-mailed replied that the usb port issue of n900 is a result of "poor device handling".

this is no good, who could "not" take care of a 600 buck device?

I think we need to start gathering evidence so people can take Nokia to small claims court over this.

We do not have to prove we handled the device gently they have to prove we did not.

Their current argument is the pads came off it must be bad handling.

All that is needed is evidence that disproves this conclusion.

The cable you linked also shows the two big tabs sticking out from the bottom. How are these cables better than the one Nokia supplied ones?

I love my Nokia N900. I'm a proud owner since the end of November '09. However, I'm currently using my old flip phone because I had to mail my N900 to the authorized Nokia repair center because the USB port broke.

Nokia is honoring the warranty and I will get an n900 that works. However, I fear that there is a design flow making the port very sensitive. Hopefully, I will not have to report the same problem again in this forum.

Hi, you're not worrying over nothing. I managed to completely remove my usb port with one small kick of the cable (IDIOT!! I know...I know...). It is NOT covered by warranty or insurance...that was one expensive error. Still ,t he handset is incredible other than that small (yet oh so BIG) flaw. I'm still a happy punter...

Cool. Please tell us more about what happened and what Nokia said.

Do you know if there was any Pad damage?

Nokia should still honour the warranty.

It is a phone it should be able to handle small knocks.

When you kick a cable the appropriate response is for the phone to go flying out the window and into your dogs water bowl. Not for the socket to come out.

(I have actually lost 2 phones into my dogs water bowl and one down the toilet before finally getting out of the habit of keeping it in my shirt pocket.)
