From my brief experience with the tablet so far I would like to see two different models. One based on the present sized screen and another more larger model around the size of a paperback book which can be thrown into a bag rather than a pocket.

I don't know if people missed this, but in the IRC meeting Quim was asked about the PIM stuff and this was the reply:
look, for Nokia the PIM thing belongs basically to the ESeries and the enterprise context - of course there are exceptions, but this should tell you why it is not in the top of the lists.
But Diablo+1 and following releases should start giving you what you need - and at the end of the process perhaps what you get is much better than what today PIM is.

I also can't see why it's up to Nokia to provide it; there's nothing closed about what people want from a PIM afaict (and if there are things, such a ways to hook into the Nokia PC software, then this is what they should be asking for). Simply improve the existing ones and there you go. Community effort.

In the N900 series, I’d like to see the following:

* At least 1 FULL-SIZED SD card slot
* The same screen as the N810 (daylight-readable)
* The same (hardware) specs as the N800 (decent processor, memory, 2GB of flash is nice but not needed with an SD card slot).
* A rotating camera, with better quality (at least 3.0MP)
* USB-OTG support
* USB CHARGING: This is one thing that could make or break a sale for someone like me, who is usually near a computer, but not always near an outlet. For those whom are the opposite, a 120v to USB adapter could be included (I have a few).
* WiMax and a keyboard is not necessary, especially if it adds to the cost and thickness. Some people may want WiMax, but $50/month isn’t what I’d consider “affordable”.
* Maybe taking some inspiration from the Asus EEE would be nice, i.e. a color pallete that would give you some choice, or different hardware specs for a few different models.

I can’t really think of anything, but a price point of… between $200 and $350?

That would probably work.

A lot easier said than done. People have been looking to adapt or recompile existing linux apps for years with limited uptake because of quirks and bugs. Nokia, in theory, wants the device to thrive and would have both manpower and money to produce/port a proper NIT PIM suite.

I would hope that one goal might be to do some "magic" and get HTML5/offline stuff working. This way a well designed/behaved web app could seamlessly work offline. It would make the most sense since web browsing is currently the NIT's strong suit.

Careful now Mr Grumpy, you might find that the future moves a bit slower when you just accept change (Moto's Solar LCD)

Again, I don't dispute the premise that solar cells can be stacked under a LCD, but rather the consequences of users handling this: They're not going to stuff their solarcell-LCD phones in a dark closet, are they? They're going to put their phones on the car dashboard, aren't they? Just look up what heat does to a LiIon battery...

Who says the N900 will have Lithium batteries? Maybe these will do

Yeah, I'm with you on that one...a super-slim 6" 1024x600 or so screened device would be great.

I know a lot of people would disagree with me, but the current devices are a bit too...in-between for me. Too small to work on them, but too big to easily carry them around everywhere. A <1cm thin bigger device coupled with Xournals direct PDF-annotating and a bigger screen would be exactly what I need for university

Probably wishful thinking though...
