Try plugging in your USB cable and selecting "PC Suite Mode". It should then let you make a backup to your N900's internal memory.
You may pr may not need to quick the Backup application and cancel the Firmware update before activating PC Suite Mode (I did just to be safe).

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?

after installation of the new firmware and back up it's no longer possible to get an internet connection by E-Plus. only connection by Wlan is possible and thats not quite good 
somebody's got same problems or any clue to fix it ?
