Hi qole,

First, I'd like to say thanks for the great scripts and package. Second, I have a question.

I really like having a full Debian install on my N900, but I prefer to run stable versions only. In this case lenny. I also realized I do not like to mount Vhome from the N900 because I want to keep "dot" files to each system separate and clean. I figured out how to prevent /home/user from mounting by changing the qchroot script. My question for you is how would I go about creating my own 'lenny/stable' image? Do you have the steps documented or can point to the steps you take? I want to continue to use your easy-chroot scripts but use my own debian install.

Thanks!

I would recommend buying a microSD and partitioning and formatting it, then setting up your custom Debian install there. You could either start from my lenny rootfs or use debootstrap.

I think there still is some problems with keyboard mapping inside lxde.
Before I did the synchroot I couldn't write numbers and special characters in lxde.
When I pushed the "shift"-key it was registered as enter.
The same problem do I have with the qt-application qtnx. I only get english keyboard and when touching the "shift"-key it detects as an enter.

Thanks! I read about debootstrap. It looks handy for the future. For now, I think I will start with your base lenny rootfs. Thanks again!

Hi all!

I have had various complaints that people from different parts of the world are having problems downloading the image file from my server.

The next version of Easy Debian will have the capability to download from mirrors.

I would appreciate offers to host the Easy Debian image files. If you (or someone you know) is willing to host a copy of the Easy Debian image files, please put a copy of

http://qole.org/files/debian-m5-v3b.img.ext2.lzma

on your server and send me the link of the file on your server (available via wget) via a PM.

I will release a new version of Easy Debian with all of the mirrors included, and we can test the mirror capabilities.

When the Easy Debian package and the v3 image are ready for Extras-testing, I'll ask the mirrors to put the new image up.

Just a report here. I managed to install SAMBA and GADMINTOOLS without any error. I also installed SYSTEM-CONFIG-PRINTER which made me see the printers in the network and configured via a GUI.

I still need to learn more about the tools and SAMBA. If anyone has any tips and tricks to make my life easier just let me know here.

I just discovered that I have Thunderbird 3 installed in the latest image. It is called "icedove" in Debian. Try it out and see if you can wrangle the UI into a usable state (it is really cramped right now, like a Tokyo train), and I'll include your config in the next Easy Debian version.

(Posted here too)

Well, Mandor now holds the record for the longest decompression time reported! Ten minutes short of TWO FULL HOURS.

Sigh. I hate filing bugs.
