Impenetrable wall of text??

I was "discovering" as I went through two alien os's ..having spent a handful of hours on each...
learning about...
finding issues with..
analyzing and finding methods to avoid said issues...
with the intent of making a more concise and bulletproof walk through for those interested...

NOTHING MORE.

If you can't read the words I've typed ...
from the beginning ..
and pretty much through the entirety of the thread...
saying such...
I hazard a BIG RED SIGN as a header on the first post wouldn't have been noticed either.
OR
even reading what the os's official sites had to say at their state ...
had you or gerbick bothered to read them...that is...

There was no impenetrable wall of text...
there was what I was discovering...
what I came to realize ...good and bad...
and what I was searching for in answer to respective issues...
and posting them with a "how to"...

But I will correct all that...
this thread is obviously not about that...

I will make sure there is clarity and make sure to accommodate your wishes.

On the bright side, the misunderstanding is now cleared up and we can further enjoy the continued expeditions into the "land of the unknown".

So (sorry if I missed it ) – from a maemo/sfos perspective, what are the things you'd miss (or the parts you think are better) even when the projects were prime-time ready? For example with UI/UX and/or in getting usual tasks done? You covered a bit about the "convergence" with desktop apps, but apart from that?
Thanks

EDIT: Oh, didn't re-read and notice the deletions/edits. That's a bit sad.

Sorry, endso, I meant no disrespect to you and I really appreciate your effort describing your discoveries. Your reaction including deleting your own posts was completely unnecessary and uncalled for.

It is really just your writing style that I (sometimes) find difficult to follow.

You know, some people like using small words, like "spade".

Others prefer more extended, multisyllabic lexemes, such as "manually operated horticultural earth excavating implement".

You, endso... you somehow manage to find a way of describing the same thing by completely avoiding words like "manual", "earth" or "tool" so, to an uninitiated observer, it be anything from "spade" to "space", through "beer", "dog", "steam engine" and anything in between

Regarding the topic in question...

I found that it always helps to make assumptions explicit. That PM and UT were community ports may have been clear to anyone who follows the scene. I don't, which is why I found this thread so interesting. But it took r0kk3rz's post to make me realize that they are not official releases by the respective development teams.

If you wish to call it "bias" or "desire for conflict", then so be it. It was never intended that way but there is nothing I can do now.

tbh I've always assumed that endsormeans was some kind of sentient markov chain that somehow never learned what a comma was.

While a heated debate can be a healthy thing, before things go too far, if they havn't already, I just want to remind everyone that it is all Elop's fault...

For what it's worth, I saved the text of the deleted posts (no links, smileys, dates…). It'll break the coherence of the thread, but if endsormeans permits it, I'll gladly post it here again, because there's really some effort and good info buried in there.

Actually if you pm me velox,
I'll give you my email...
and you can forward them to me...
I was simply going to edit and rewrite ...clean it up...
your copy would help in that.
I think I could post the important points in the 1st post.
and so there wouldn't be much in a break of continuity..

Wait... wait. Endsormeans, no disrespect was meant. I was asking about functionality because I was looking for a new experiment but I had a different requirement - I was looking for a device that would work while I travelled overseas here very soon.

This does not do it out of the box, but via continued experimentation and refinement; it might have gotten there. I didn't even have these on my list of options but they were on the radar.

Your thread put them there.

If asking questions leads to deleted posts; I'm not sure how to move forward in the future with my curiosity.

I mean... can we at least take a moment to appreciate that I was made into a beer? Gerbock DOES have a good ring to it.

Its all good gerbick...really.
In fact ...real good.
wiping the blackboard ..so to speak...
of meandering-spoken-out-loud-thoughts,
ruminations,
mutterings about how to solve an issue here or there...
etc...

will help immensely.

It may have been a mad purge...at first..
but I think it best to pull out the best of what I have found ...and worst ...
and be a little more concise...
especially considering a few light-bulb moments...thanks to feedback to my thinking out loud...
I will explain properly in the revision.

There have been a few times when I found a purging exercise helpful. Once at the Uni, a long, long time ago, I accidentally lost a programming assignment I had been working on for over a week. I took that opportunity to write it all over again. It took about a day and was better than the first one
