Agree.

Definitely not. A bit more than just xterm+vkbd is needed, but still KDE might be a bit too much.

On a different but related topic, and perhaps apple2 can shed some light here, I can't get Xomap to pick up the mouse events. Doing a cat /dev/input/event2 (or /dev/input/mouse0 for that matter) prints stuff on the screen but Xomap refuses to move the pointer (lsof reports it has the dev open). Any ideas of what might be happening?

The abomination of KDE? most definitely not!

There's a hack around here, http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=15111, that makes it work (in KDE? but I think it's only X related) which might serve as inspiration and/or as a ready-to-go drop-in hack.

In connection to Xomap - what i basically did was to copy everything connected with xomap from maemo (os2006) to the debian system. I used synaptic to see deps and installed files. Then I made a script that runs Xomap ..... and icewm because gdm didn't run and xdm couldn autologin.
Btw if someone has ideas about enlightenment (it should run on n800) I would like to know.

About Xomap, I did something along those lines. Repacked the debs from ITOS and dpkged into my debian. One thing to look for, for some reason /usr/lib/ wasn't included by default in my debootstrap therefore tslib couldn't be found. Once I added it to ldconfig's path it was all a walk in the park.

As for enlightenment, have you tried compiling the cvs in scratchbox? (I imagine you did right?)

You may try with different versions of Xomap file - I don't know.
I compiled enlightenment from cvs and from the snapshots and in both ways it runs wonderful in scratchbox but segfaults on the tablet (and doesn't segfault on n800 maybe).

Maybe you're using the wrong SDK? I know that Bora is for OS2007 and gregale (I believe) is for OS2006. I guess that might have something to do with it all, but then again, since you're using your own debian, I'm just talking nonsense here. I'll try compiling enlightenment myself and I'll start playing about with it.

I believe I compiled it fine (and lots of times as well) just for reference:

Seems to be a comon problem Maybe I should contact an enlightenment developer to have a look. Its just too cool to be true.

I suggest you go to #edevelop on freenode. Speak to k-s, top guy! He ported EFL to the IT and is behind Canola2. I started doing some python+EFL stuff and he helped me a lot. EFL certainly works in the 770 (I'm just one of the living proofs ) so it should be doable I believe ...

right, managed to build+run e16 on my 770. Oddly enough, all I had to do was compile e16 inside scratchbox, scp and run. It works no problems.

Well thats good news! I haven't thought about e16 really. Is it usable, responsive, what about the special effects?
