It's there, just install it. I just checked with my Debian chroot.

So does transparency! I was surprised by that, to be honest.

Yeah, Xomap was built with compositing support. It's slow though :P

There are, at least for me a couple of things I'll have to find replacements for.

1. battery monitor
2. screen dimming/suspend scripts
3. good multi location wireless manager (knetworkmanager like)
4. replace epiphany with iceweasel (better UI and configuration IMHO)
5. A way to right-click.

On the n810 Some of the above may be easier to solve, but on an n800, or even *gasp* a 770 #5 can be mighty important. All this is just me ramblin' so take it as you will. Also, has anyone else noticed that inn Debian the keyboard doesn't ssttuutteerr?

A question - is there a feed or something so that I can just update my installation with apt or I should download tarball for every new version?

EDIT: Upgrading from from sid feed breaks a lot.

@Capn Fish: Sorry, I've been busy and haven't looked at this much. I'll try and poke at it more in a bit. Also, try adding the "xmodmap my-xmodmap-file" to XFCE's autostart scripts under ~/.config/xfce4/

@alendit: This release has several "local" changes compared to the last release I made. Also, if you install some things from sid stuff will start breaking. Especially, don't let it install xorg-xserver or alsa-lib stuff.

1. kcbatt will work on the command line
2. If someone wanted to write those and share them here, I'd appreciate it!
3. I ran into issues with network manager and the limited wext support in the patched cx3110x used in Debian. wifi radar and wicd might be worth trying. I'm busy with work and other projects lately, so don't wait around for me to tell you what works, try it out!
4. Once the Debian guys get it compiled for armel it's just an apt-get away.
5. In gtk2 apps, just tap and hold. In Qt apps I have no idea.

Is there an "easy" way of pairing BT devices (mouse, keyboard, headset) in debian, or more generally in non-maemo Linux (presumably a friendly wrapper around hcitool)?

If there's not, or perhaps even if there is, I'm going to work on some scripts to transfer bluetooth devices from maemo (gconf, /system/bluetooth/) to debian (not real sure where, I'll try to figure out what's the righteous way...).

On second thought, I should be searching around for a Bluetooth/Linux howto. So unless you know the answer right off, don't bother replying. (I don't want people wasting their time either searching or ordering me to go search while I am, in fact, searching independently.)

Iceweasel segfaults on armel, and it looks like the Debian dudes have given up trying to get it to work, at least until FF 3.0... But, hey, they got OpenOffice working; anything's possible.

I really think PenguinBait's right-click hack (swmb.sh) might be our best bet for Debian window managers, too. This script toggles the stylus to be a right click by pressing a hardware key.

I did some hacking on EvilWM to make it handle right clicking, but never quite finished it. If somebody wants to look at it, I'll talk them through my idea, how it's implemented now, and what's probably going wrong.

A similar thing could probably be done in Xfce, but I'm not familiar with that code.

EDIT: I got it to the point where it SHOULD work, but it doesn't capture the regular click event OK. That's, AFAICT, all that needs to be implemented.

Feel free to post or PM me if you're interested.

One of the reasons I chose XFCE was that everything was gtk2 so right click is just tap+hold on all the included apps, including the window manager.
