there is an actual serial port and an additional usb port.
I didn't even notice the ports under the battery!

Thanks for that link.

I think I'd be more interested if it was a full sized SD card. The N810 is the only device I have that uses miniSD. Does this totally replace the internal 2GB? Do I have to solder to install?

No and no, this is from all indications a miniSD to SD adapter with a cable thin enough to slip out under the door.

No soldering or replacement of the internal 2GB. This would be easy for anyone to install. It also can easily be removed, and it uses full size SD card.

Thanks.

I'd suggest an external USB or miniUSB slot, so things could be connected to the tablet, while kick-stand is closed.

Just from brief observation it looks like there is space next to the home/switcher button. If you remove battery it can be seen there is space and even hole on the right. There are charger and headphone connectors on the other side in same place.

One can also get thin wires out through speaker grill there.

Given that you can setup the n8xx in host mode, an adapter isn't really needed because you can easily just add something to the unit outside of the unit like you would any other USB connection. Sure, that kinda kills the whole portability factor, but at this point it's a tradeoff you'd almost have to make until SSD technology progresses a bit more.

This adapter would make me highly consider getting an n810.
