It will have a 3D accelerator AND an appropriate driver
I just read something on the OpenPandora forum (or might have been irc yesterday) that gave me pause. Site's been Slashdot'd so not accessible atm. Anyway it was a comment that the driver is in the hands of ImgTech and Ti - sounded to me like it wasn't finalised and available. Is there a note somewhere that says it will definitely have the driver?

Well, speaking from the Beagle side of things, the driver should be available sometime end of this year or next year with a open-source kernel driver calling a binary blob.

From what I remember, the device will be delivered with a binary driver, without source. I can't give evidence for it, because the site is down. I may also have heard it in the EvilDragon interview on youtube, but I've no time to play the whole clip again atm.

The developers have gone on record to say it will be included when Pandora ships (end november). I think it was EvilDragon who said that.

I remember some relatively old comment by Squidge (member of the team) that it is just a matter of time, driver is not ready yet. Once it is ready the kernel side will be open source and userspace not. IIRC the ETA was end of the year. One cannot be sure until it really comes but it sounded like time is the only problem.

indeed unneeded... on gp2x.de the "pandora developer fund" item is not in the bestsellers column so that say it all... more gp2x 's then dev funds sold....

Right, I just ordered one

Sounds cool (especially like the thought of powered usb host; not to mention the power of the thing, and the new DSP ) and decided that I'd prefer to pay the extra for the Pandora, which is portable, rather than a Beagleboard.

Will also be good to get back into OpenEmbedded and building images for the beast (I do hope the BT, Wifi, PowerVR drivers are open enough to allow this).

Only thing it lacks is a camera... N900
