N900 most probably will cost zero when subsidized by carrier.

Not if the North American cell carriers have anything to say about that! Expect $300+ with 2 year contract. Or $500-700+ sans contract with prices to drop shortly after launch. This will of course vary from region to region, depending on the state of the local cell cartel(s).

I agree, or at most what, 75 Euro? If they manage to get through with those prices in carriers, they have a big winner in their hands.

All and all, interesting presentations, both of them, but I was expecting to feel more surprised by new stuff (So-Lo and the X devices where the only new things). What about the N920?

Expect 400/500 Euros with a french carrier ... the price is already 649 in france.

I wish Anssi would stop saying 'step x of 5' everytime. Here is the N900 gaining so much momentum and he basically said - skip it.

For us Maemo enthusiasts, of course, it comes out differently as we are excited and sort of want to experience the evolution of the Maemo devices, but for the first timers, saying that the N900 is just a stepping stone, I don't think is a good idea.

What do you all think?

I wonder what exactly do they have in store for "step 5". Aside from QT integration across all their platforms.

Yeah, I had not considered that. I think he even corrected itself, he went out happily saying "it is step 4", then he kinda came back saying "oh, but it is good already" with a expression of "oops". At least me, as soon as I he said that, have decided to wait for Harmattan. Maybe I will grab a X6 to kill some time meanwhile

well, if anyone have any experience with tech, they will know that there will be a better product out the day they walking our of a store with their latest find.

to me it says more that nokia is not going to abandon maemo at the first sign of trouble, but have a long term commitment.

"in a number of markets". Wonder how that will play out.

Anyways, suppose I expecting something more at the end, with all the hype the event generated. All that talk about different devices for different users with different needs, one size does not fit all and everything, I was kinda hoping the principle would apply to Maemo 5 devices.

Kinda cool though that the X3 will cost just €115 and come with comes with music.

And let's see what the rest of the event brings!

Yeah, well I'm sure there'll be step 6,7,8 and so on.
There's no point in always waiting for the next best thing.
And he is talking about software. There's a good chance that the n900 will be able to have Harmattan. As far as I understand, there's not much difference between omap4 and omap5, the latter is just faster. Correct me if i'm wrong
