I am going to start a new thread that concentrates on the current "call."

Which is why I originally suggested Nokia marketing engagement...

Something I wanted to add...

I realize there's been a pervasive "just do it" mentality at work here, which in pure sense is great... and Quim appeared to reinforce that... but I still strongly believe it makes sense to reach out to Nokia to find out not what we can do but rather what we CANNOT. Why waste time on activity only to be told later an integral part can't be used?

I'm not trying to be a downer or pedant here-- just cautious.

We are just users. We are not Nokia. So, anything we do (unless specifically told not to under NDA) is fine. If something breaches the borders of trust, I'm sure Nokia will tell us politely and all we have to do is comply. But, I don't really see that happening.

I don't see how Nokia could get upset by a community celebration of Maemo and the N900. Identify yourselves as community, individuals, etc, keep it non-profit, don't pretend to be anything Nokia and you'll be fine.

I think my ideas aforementioned may have much higher aspirations than I can achieve right now alone, and being we're all scattered across the globe, it may be impossible with my meager resources. Is there a Nokia sponsored channel to feed these marketing ideas to for possible implementation?

mmm... maemo.org?

Brainstorm + Talk, what else do you need to define a proposal?

I hear what you're saying Quim, and again not trying to irritate you as I seem to do too often... but are you willing to stand on record with that? Remember I was inside the same company and I know the messages we were given in the Devices world regarding even incidental use of Nokia identity. And I don't mean anyone "pretending to be Nokia"-- I mean something as seemingly harmless as advertising the product, even grassroots-style.

Bottom line, in my possibly useless opinion it's better safe than sorry, and it would good to know upfront what CAN'T or SHOULDN'T be done.

Maybe I'm full of crap. Maybe once again I'm not speaking clearly. But trust me, my intent is NOT to annoy... just to avoid trouble. Ragnar appeared to underscore that...
