I apologise, blind leading blind Merry Xmas!

xterm
sudo gainroot
mkdir /PALM/launcher
mkdir /PALM/programs

ls /

you should see your directories made.

Or, a cheater's way, install emelfm2, it is a GUI file manager, an explorer style, to get around N900 without knowing 'too much' about Linux . I cannot do anything without emelfm2. Installation is kind of tricky as it has not 'formally' made it to N900, instructions here thread #14

enjoy,

bun

emelfm2 looks even more complicated! i can see the slot1 and slot2 under gvm but i still cant figure out how to copy .prc to either slot1 or slot2?
1) i want to install lexicomp but when i install through gvm-->install i get error and everything wipes out...
2) also how do you install .prc apps that decompresses and then installs like ptunes or mundu?

I cannot agree with you more, emelfm2 is very complicated. The other way to look at emelfm2, its complication is because it is powerful. If you have emelfm2 installed, I will walk you thru, TRUSTME, it is easier with emelfm2.

otherwise,
xterm
cd (to folder of your files) for example cd /media/mmc1/palm files folder some thing like that
ls #confirm files is there
cp source destinationfoler

for example
cp /media/mmc1/palmfiles/*.prc /PALM/launcher
will copy all files with extension .prc from /media/mmc1/palmfiles to /PALM/launcher

post back if question...... I am afraid you have squeezed out the last drop of linux from bun

On emelfm2, there is 2 blocks, you can drag files from one block to the other, just like MSexplorer.

There is a faint black line separating the two blocks, use it to drag to make box bigger or smaller, so that you can see the green up arrow. Use the green up arrow to navigate to your file location

so far so good?

Now, emelfm2 is NOT ready for fremantle, that is the reason why it is so strange, you and I are using something from the future................ got it?

I am pretty sure, when it is ported to fremantle it is going to be the biggest thing in fremantle.

How is the navigation going?

The big white space showed where you are, say, your SD card would be

/media/mmc1

your camera files would be

/home/user/.image/DMCI something like that

touch the Big Green H will make give it a red line on top of it, this makes hidden folder appear

you need that.
