Thnx alot Ktchiu... I have already done that, but still no luck If possible may I request you to give the full path where I can get the conversations in back up files. But as a workaround, i m using "glogarchive" which exports to CSV file but that gimme wat I am looking for. I need to get where I can export sms normally in other symbian OS version mobile.

Also, can someone assist me how to transfer music files (say mp3 files , ringtones, etc) through bluetooth??

Thanks once again and in advance.

Check the thread Import SMS to N900 for a practical way to do it. It may need some effort, but it's only method I know that works.

You can try the N900 smsexporter from this thread.

Get the later versions if possible (not the plain v0.2).

Be careful when importing. Exporting should not be harmful. But you need to know how to use X Terminal to avoid breaking your device, or get someone who does (ie a Linux geek). :-)

Take also a backup before. In the case you screw up the database file or you don't like what you get, then you can delete all SMSs and restore from the backup.

It works nicely. I've done it already 2-3 times with no upsets.

hope it helps.

Just got round to trying to use the new deluxe house brick some people call the N900, to sync my calendar from work. not emails, not notes, not tasks, JUST calendar to start with. Thought I would start basic.

I have to install software to do this, which is not what the blurb about the phone suggested (can't say phone, it isn't a phone, expansys and vodaphone are wrong to call it one.) So already I am in trouble because I hot desk, IT might let me do it on my pc, but the other 11 PC's I use having Nokia PC suite installed on it, isn't going to help my cred with IT.

I can't use mail for exchange because I have to rely on wireless communication, instead of the cable to get the information. My IT won't open ports or communications for that which I will come to.

I am using winxp pro, with version 7.1.4 of Pc suite and I can't sync anything. Nothing will work as it comes up with.

"Your Outlook message store might have been moved. Please re-select your Outlook profile and required folders. " Which of course is rubbish, because the screen previously let me select it. And the system doesn't move stuff randomly.

Everything about this phone is rubbish and the only redemming quality, the sync with MS outlook and exchange, one key reason to buying this phone and that doesn't work.

Bear in mind I can't install software on every machine I visit as I work for the NHS and they don't like random cruddy software being installed, I can't get wireless or bluetooth access because of the sensitive nature of the industry. Our IT don't support the N900, far too many reasons they won't touch it with a barge pole. Namely 'support' and the fact it is crap. (Their words) I can't reg hack an NHS PC, I can't spend hours at a new desk going through a start, stop and restart procedure to get something this basic to work.

PC Suite says it is unsupported. Why Nokia still say the N900 is unsupported, 5 months after launch with their own software is beyond me. If I can't get it to work then it is back to the old HTC tytn 2 and winmo, My work requires me to sync my calendar regularly from differing machines and I am hacked off already with everything else on it, I don't want to have install nokia pc suite, just like I didn't want to install active sync. But I guess I will have to if I can at least get the syunc to work.

I have lost five hours of work time today on this problem alone so any help much appreciated.
