Going "online", searching for the contact is still more work that mStatus or even opening a $RANDOM Twitter-Webapp.

We need mStatus!

You mean you're not ALWAYS online? When I have internet I rarely sign off, rarely have reason to, though I will admit, that I like not having to leave the current screen your on to use mStatus. But it doesn't work yet, so for now I think this is a usable work around :P

I'm always online in terms of a data connection, but not with the N900 "availability".

Hey guys,
just read this article over at the guys of Engadget.com, and it makes me wonder: why don't we have a Facebook app yet? I know there are other threads discussing this but they all died down and no definite answer has been found so far.

I am looking for a pretty much full scale Facebook implementation, does anyone have a lead? I know it's no hassle using it through the browser but hey, I don't want it! It works fine via an app on other phones too, why do I need to miss out on it? Hell, even the Zune HD has it now! I have to admit I am a bit scared that Nokia/Community will never release a dedicated app and Ill end up not enjoying my n900 as I thought I would before I bought it

Are there any projects in the making that are pointing towards a standalone app? Any information would be great

Regards,
Haus3r

n900's browser has zero problems with facebook full web page.

those apps are there partly only because devices browser just can't handle the webpages.

e: that's probably why no-one hasn't got any need for facebook app

I agree the browser is awesome however, those dedicated apps are still faster on other phones than the browser on the n900. I like the simplicity of mobile apps for web sites. they are functional and give you only what you really need to interact. Like the myspace app for the n95. When i didn't care to view some ones tacky over loaded slow page it was much easier to do what i needed via an app. even faster than on my laptop at home

If you're looking for a plugin for facebook chat, then you can use the Jabber plugin. Follow the steps on: http://thenokiablog.com/2010/02/10/h...ut-of-the-box/

That creates account you can merge together with your other contacts, and gives you another way of IM.
But it's an app you need if it's for facebook as a whole. And there we got our nice browser

while its all good that the browser can render the full facebook site, i think an app would be better, simply because facebook has a bloated and terrible website. an app would make things easier and simpler i think.

facebook mobile is rubbish, facebook touch and facebook lite seem to have missing features.
