a lot of the stuff I'd like to see is already been said, the only thing I would see in addition is:

a notifier that tells you when a package is not optified, or an option to tick that prevents applications that try to install more than files necessary on rootfs

They would do much better with quality if they posted indevidual bug fixes as they become available (into extras-testing) instead of storing it all up for a big release.

Noka is off to a great start but hasn't yet learned how to exploit their most important and FREE asset ... the community.

I will like to find:

* MMS
* bugs, battery draining optimizations, battery duration
* Improvements in email app( can delete multiple email in Nokia Messaging, speed, etc....)
* more phone profile options linked with connections mode and other configuration ( mode road = general profile + 10 mw wifi + 2G only + skype connection bussy + .....)
* more options in the conversations and phone app( open a new chat from a group conversation choosing the person)
* portrait mode in messaging, email and browser
* A widget or app where you can see conversations(IM, SMS and MMS)+calls+new emails. Will be easy to track all events.

It's almost christmas we have to believe in Nokia. My more than 60 days wait, change of my first send N900 due to reboots will have its final prize.

weird.. does no body here drive a car?

my first one is : Voice Dialing that all phones of the last X number of years all do have already.

second: dont bother implementing MMS.. Please dont spend anytime in that use your time for other stuff. (thats just my point of view)

but my top

1> voice dialing (now it is quite dangerous for me to dial somebody and i can get a ticket of about 200 euro's)
2> improve the email client A LOT... Imap Idle support! Send button in the status bar, Way faster in everything, A global new mail inbox over all inboxes (where you jump to if you get new mail) and a desktop widget that also displays the contents of that new mail box. new Mails that i open through the task mananger cant be deleted... If i delete an email it goes to the next one, i want to go back to the list! And i can go on and on... Emailing is one of the worst parts of the N900 that area with the next point is one of the big steps backward from my E90.
3> Fix navigation (feature wise update to S60 Ovi Maps 3 including voice navigation, paying for navigation is no problem)
4> google calender sync and integration (so multi calendars of google are mapped exactly like that in the N900... but i guess this will be third party effort)
5> browser fixes, this one is for me the biggest cpu hog. As far as i can monitor, i hope that overal they can improve cpu usage as much as possible because that would also mean better battery performance.

Agree with almost everyone. Better battery management would be great, I'd like to see a better battery, if not shipped with the devices, for sale for this soon. I almost couldn't believe such a large-ish device had such a small-ish battery, but that's not a firmware/software issue.

MMS messaging. For those of you who don't like it or wouldn't use it, that's fine, but why do multiple people feel the need to explicitly say not to include it? To some of us it is important, if you don't want it, don't use it and that's that.

Messaging in portrait mode with T9 touchscreen on an old style number pad so it could easily be done with one hand.

Navigation/GPS needs an all-around upgrade.

The ability to create custom profiles (at least one more? One for loud, one for silent, one for quiet).

Doubt tha it will be soon, as N900 uses shitty gstreamer backend which is really sensitive to cpu usage, I never use it with linux desktop as it's so unusable

I really doubt we're getting the update before end of the year. Nokia has a dirty habit of pushing dates lol. Though, I do have my n900 in hand.

Having seen the bug-fix list, I'm not expecting the update to make a huge difference to my n900 use.

Can't help nursing a secret fantasy of flash 10 to activate bbc iplayer... in time to rewatch the Christmas Dr Who duing my annual Boxing Day lie in! (yes, I on;y get to lie in one a year.)
