i will only get 1gb, not 1+5
what plan do you have? how much do you pay?

so will having widgets running use a lot of bandwidth?
also, how do emails and facebook notifications come through? on my bold they come through instantly, just like a txt. is this the same for the N900?

i dont download a lot of heavy stuff like streaming or large files while about on 3g, then when i get to the office it automatically picks up my office visitors wifi and the same at home so my 3g usage is probbably around 120mb per month but i got unlimitted usage with t-mobile (fair usage i think might be 3gb) when hitting fair usage they limit your speed to about 15kb at peak times (4pm-12pm)

my main home broadband until recently was via a tmobile dongle and i was using about 3gb per month with all the tmobile restrictions, example youtube and some other sites were blocked, my usage inclunding remote desktopping into office pc during working hours, sync office emails to my laptop (quite heavy usage here), msn and some other client server apps... i think diferent version of firmwre in the dongle seem to report diferent usage... also at the time i used opera a lot which shrinks data by up to 90 per cent in some cases.

there is litle widget app (dataplan monitor) that you can download in the n900 and place into your desktop to monitor usage.

I guess I use ~1.5GB of data every month. After 20GB on one month Three limits me to 3G speed until the new month. Otherwise I have 3.5G speeds, typically around 6mBit/s down and 1mBit/s up.

Yes check the repo's theres a few data plan monitors.

I downloaded about 850mb last month but id say that 80% of that was on my home or work wireless so if you have wireless at home or work that should bring down your data requirements with your mobile provider.

My cellular data usage is mere 100MB per month. But I happen to have a WiFi connection at most places where I go - home, office, my girlfriends's place, my parents' place, many pubs/cafes/restaurants, even my auto repair shop..

I've used 750mb since I've had the phone (got it as soon as Amazon started shipping, however long ago that was)
