I'm not going to defend the post in question, but please. A tiny percentage of aggressive posts flavors the entire forum?

Not possible.

Anyone stating what's in the quote is seriously lacking perspective. There are forums that make this look like candyland, even on its worst day.

That said, I wish we could ALL be a bit more objective and less confrontational.

You say its smooth enough; i say it is decent but there is much room for improvement when inferior phones do better. Your comparisons are quite odd..i.e. why would i want to go to Disney World for animations? Yeeeeaah..rite..ill keep that in mind when questing for smoother animations on my phone. And apparently the emphasis for animation over multitasking isn't very widespread on this forum; its just that we want the best of both worlds.

And you are correct, common sense is not common indeed.

Ok boss, point taken. I just get frustrated with sweeping generalizations like 'n900 is slow'. Nonsense.

There are phrases like these: "the N900 could be so much better" or "inferior phones do better" or "the N900 is so slow, how can Nokia sell it?" and so on that makes people from the community a bit unfriendly.

But can people see that THEY are unfriendly in the first place?

You could simply state "my phone is slow like hell, the Media Player can't see my music or is slow... what can be wrong? how can I fix it?" and have A LOT more people willing to help in a civil way.

Instead people add phrases like "Why can't nokia provide us a lag-free os".

Why people complaining about the "unfriendliness" of this forum understand this simple matter?

I actually agree with that point. Such sweeping generalizations are poison to a forum. Ironic, given the claims that "fanboys" make this the internet's "worst forum"...

I agree with you overall anidel, except I think "the N900 could be so much better" is pretty harmless. But it depends on context, too.

Its not nonsence, its a user perspective. Which is an experience i have (as others I know which are sending the device back). I am of course not making a sweeping statement which the whole device is slow. but there are a lot of shakey points.

This is a fair comment!

anyone had a problem like this with phone, that when you talk with someone the sound of the other persons voice can be heard clear one second and then the second time the person speaks the sound is very weak and hard to hear. it goes back and forth all the time.

it really helps when people abandon the "my experience is the only valid experience" mode...

To me Nokia really got its act together with n900; which other device is like it ?
Thats simply not true. The consensus is very mixed. The N900 isnt up to my expectations, but in a funny way it is - its a Nokia remember and we have to take the rough with the smooth. The fantastic hardware and functionality with beta software on release and lack of detail/decent testing. The majority in this thread are discussing what is wrong with the N900, to dismiss it as whining is plain head in the sand stuff. The N900 is great and of all the phones out there is my pick. BUT itnneeds ironing out and in its current state couldnt compete with the iphone (on a polished OS level) and wont be a contender for the general public compared to the iphone (dont go on about openess/hardware/benefits, I obviously know this as I own an N900 ).
