Thank you very much for the guide
I did also change the name of the reboot key to the proper word in my native language. Worked like a charm.
This is alot easyer then going in the terminal and typing sudo gainroot, reboot whenever i need to reboot.

if you have SSH installed, its probably much easier to follow franka's directions doing it from your pc (editing and backuping the file is much more straightforward)

thanks franka

haha it worked totally fine, then i reedited it back to how it was to get rid of the rebootbutton, and for some reason all i see now is the phone shortcut when i press my powerbutton. any idea what i couldve done to make that little change while following the written instructions =P ?

I remember seeing this thread ages ago but only today I've found a need to add a reboot button. Maemo has been so stable for me.

But kudos to the OP for writing such clear instructions. I only wish more people would follow suit. Not everyone is up to scratch with what a lot of people on this forum assume to be almost common knowledge.

Some things you might want to add...Removing the 2 lines:
<!--
and
-->

gives two additional options called "softpoweroff" and "Top" in Xterm

Also I have an extra option that might be useful to slightly more advance users...add these lines:

<menuitem priority="5" name="Root">
<callback service="com.nokia.xterm" path="/com/nokia/xterm" interface="com.nokia.xterm" method="run_command" bus="session" autostart="true">
<argument type="string">/usr/bin/root</argument>
</callback>
</menuitem>

Just before this line:
<!--

What this does is give an extra button called "Root" which automatically opens up Xterm with root access. Make sure you have "rootsh" installed first!!
