Surely you understand why people would be skeptical:

- no official announcement
- very slow third party host
- you have only 2 posts here

I highly advise anyone from trying this. Your devices though. And I hope I'm wrong to be concerned.

You might find it has got English so we will just have to wait and see but i must admit this does NOT look good for Nokia on this forum if it is indeed the new update everyone is going mad for.

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm gonna chill until I see "Maemo 5" pop up in the Application Manager...

And if the PenPower software is any indication, who knows what else will refuse to run due to the IMEI not being one among the HK release.

1. It's a internal test version from NOKIA .
2. It's fast in China.
3. If you're anxious about the risk, be away from the firmware.

There are different images for different regions. If people are bypassing regular channels to inflict a regional build on those who can't use it, that doesn't make Nokia look bad. It says more about those so impatient to get their hands on (of all things) a software update that they'll spend all night downloading who-actually-knows-what from some unknown guy's random server.

Sheer folly.

Boys and their toys... I remember flashing my PSP to use the Japanese firmware because they had included the browser... way back in 2005.

I also remember flashing my iPaq 2210 with an unofficial firmware that killed that PDA. Thank goodness for a very loose return policy back in those days.

But this... has to be the oddest, yet most feverish hunt for an update I've seen in years. I hope PR1.2 doesn't disappoint...

well apparently the HK version of the phone does not have the fm transmitter...so after flashing can anyone test if they have still put the drivers to run it...or have they removed that as well

I remember wishing one of my science teachers would flash me.
