let me tell you some of my experience.

At first, I have the same hesitation, just like you.

You can search my threads posted here in Maemo Talk.

And I compared N900 with iPhone/Android phones from hardware/software aspect.

And at last, I decided to buy one.

Because I think Android is just a Linux kernel + Java virtual machine

And Maemo is pure Linux.

iPhone OS is like BSD(Also Unix-like OS), but not so open, hard to modify.

Thats the big reason why I choose N900 at last.

And I got it this week.

After I used it, you know what ? I find it great.

At first, I am concerning whether N900 can update to Meego.

But now, I do not concern on that any more.

You know why ? Because I find that Mameo itself is already great !

And we all do not know what will Meego be in the future.

This device is just like a computer, and many Linux apps can be found on source. So I think the apps are enough to use.

Just like Linux on the desktop (Linux do not have as many apps as Windows ), Maemo do not have as many apps as Android/iPhone.

It is the same feeling.

Now I concern is that sometime, I found the keyboard is not very necessary, actually.

Virtual keyboard is just enough if I use the point pen to do the normal use.

Because I use Chinese Pinyin input in the browser (the only way to input Chinese into browser) , I have to input by keyboard and then choose the word by clicking on the touch screen. It is just a kind of complicated.

At this time, I think a virtual keyboard can be good.

And the way to zoom in and zoom out in browser is just great !
(clockwise cycle on screen), so you do not need to use your fingers.
The rendering is also good.

My opinion now is that :

1. Buy it now and you will enjoy it sooner !

You can also consider to wait to the next Nokia Meego device ( it will be released in 2010)

But, if you think you are a geek, or like to use Linux,

It is a great device !!!

So, my conclusion is enjoy Maemo and N900 now !
