My friends rely heavily on me for advice on anything tech that they are looking to buy. From computers to phones and everything in between. I would absolutely NOT recommend the N900 to a friend. Ever.

At this point, I wouldn't even recommend it to myself (If I could go back in time like Cartman). But I probably wouldn't listen to myself anyway (like Cartman).

As soon as the HTC Evo or the new iPhone hits the shelves, the N900 is gonna be on Ebay. Maybe I should stop posting how bad it is so I can actually get someone to buy it. o.0

The N900 is not bad. It's not what you wanted.

I wonder why?
Because the average "I should have bought an iPhone I HATE THIS n900!" person falls into the latter group. And I agree - anyone who is happy with their iPhone (or even to some degree their Android phone) has selected ease of use *and* more limited functionality over power.

And frankly, there's nothing wrong with that.

So yeah, I have several friends who could totally enjoy the n900, as it is. I have several friends who would be WAY more happy with an iPhone. Or an EVO. Or a Droid. But probably not a Pre (sorry Palm, your stuff is teh suck)

Once some Meego stuff appears it will be interesting to see if that improves the "a child could use it" aspect, without removing the "you could cut your own arm off with it" power user capabilities. I'm not sure you can actually have both, but I'm more than happy to be proven wrong.

OK one more thing
Why do think MeeGo would super awesome? Seriously guys, it might even lack some cool features that we have in Maemo 5 right now. Its a brand new OS version 1.0 , take a look at Android , version 1.5 was a nightmare and slow as hell with 1.6 they've improved it a bit but most amazing features came in 2.1 and now 2.2 with flash support and WiFi tethering.

IMHO N8 is as dead as N900 since Symbian ^4 will be out by the end of 2010

@schettj You know right that Web OS is based on Linux and has amazing features moreover if Maemo was not with Nokia the lack of apps and good marketing would be pretty much the same as for Palm (though now they are lucky to have a wealthy owner like HP )
