Edit: I programmed the above user agent string into microB and I am able to go to 'store.ovi.com' and do a successful login... so this may be used as a workaround for now.

Buddy how exactly did you edit the strng in microb as described above to make it work? Thanks

The easiest is using "Hide User Agent" available in the Maemo repositories.

But while I can access successfully the store, download links don't work... they use 'store.ovi.moby' addresses which when entered generate "Device not supported".

Sigh! Back to square one...

I fired off an email to Ovi on Saturday or Sunday. The guy that responded was quite helpful, said he is using his own N900 and it's working for him but also offered several suggestions in line with everything mentioned here in the last couple of pages.

I did let them know that it wasn't an isolated incident, a lot of chatter about it here on maemo, not firmware related because it still happens even after flashing both the rootfs & emmc back to good old metric bog standard. Ovi is working fine on my N95, so the issue appears to be at their end and not ours.

I got the impression that just now they don't believe us. : ) Hopefully they'll figure it out though. I would suggest a few more of us fire off email to Nokia and Ovi, the more the better.

I do have sympathy for you guys with this Ovi Store problem, hope they sort it out

On another note...you are not missing anything trust me. The Ovi Store is so poor its not worth mentioning. I was laughed at by my mate using his iphone last weeek. He said, 'What the f**** is Ovi Store? It sucks hard' i almost punched him but realised he had a valid point.
Most of the great apps/games for this phone come from the repos' them guys deserve the true credit for anything worthwhile with this phone.

But is not currently accepted by the OVI store, neither is your string "Maemo browser". The one used by the Mozilla browser for the N900 is, (transcribed by hand as this browser doesn't yet support mouse mode to copy text):

Code:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux armv7l; en-US; rv:1.9.2.1) Gecko/20100330 Firefox/3.6.1 Fennec/1.0.1
and it works for me in accessing store.ovi.com. You can reset the default user agent string in microB with the "Hide User Agent" addon, as has been described elsewhere in the thread.

Edit: I programmed the above user agent string into microB and I am able to go to 'store.ovi.com' and do a successful login... so this may be used as a workaround for now.

In contrast, trying to go to 'store.ovi.mobi' gives me the usual "Device not supported". Trying to get to the store via the OVI icon in the apps menu gives me the usual error panel advisory that I need to update my Maemo 5 installation!

Ovi Store is not available for my N900 too.

I always use english language and I´m in Brazil.

And it was working until last week. I have no idea what happened.

Just checking, but does it work with the native browser? There are some issues related to Firefox and Ovi Store.

1. Type: about:config on your browser url.
2. Search for useragent
3. Just switch to mouse mode and double click on the line to edit.

This is actually pretty effing sad. I am generally willing to cut Nokia a bit of slack but its been days with this issue and nothing has been done. Somebody needs a punch to the groin
