I feel sorry for you, that you feel the need to troll, whine, nag and complain about how other people are participating in discussions that you don't like.
Excuse me?!?!?!?! I have never nagged, whined, trolled or complained. If I did I would have a ton more posts than I currently have over the last 3 years. Look at my posting history.

If you want to make/take the criticism personally then it says more about you than me. I won't stoop to your level.

We all have the right to participate within forum rules but I was under the impression this site was for those interested in improving the N900 & other NIT's either collectively or individually rather provide the battleground for schoolyard bickering & point-making.

No device is forever; N900 is not without its faults and Nokia may well be the Axis of Evil, I just want to enjoy my device
The first time I checked, this was a site for Internet Tablets. Then it became a site for Maemo. It never became a dedicated N900 site. With all that said, I'm not interested in the N900. I'm interested in keeping an eye out for the N800 related developments (that's Maemo too, right?) and I also like to participate in discussions that aren't directly related to working on the N900 (like this one--it's opinion mining). I'm also interested in the debates and conversations on the site. Last time I checked, there wasn't a requirement of the purchase of a specific model of device.

But, as far as beneficial progress goes, it might help if the devices could have some hope for improvement and support. At the moment, MeeGo is clearly a far more cheery place to hang out because there's much forward progress and momentum. Maemo is a much more dreary and angry place because... well, it's not. What did you really expect?

So, what do you want me to do? Just go away because you don't like that I point out where things should be better, where the weaknesses are and how competitors are faring? Nice.

I'm not sure that you're hoping for by sending people away, in general, but it certainly seems like the same mindset Nokia has had for a while now, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised either.

C'mon folks. Let's not go into a downward spiral. Personal attacks and comments really don't add up for a positive discussion.

Not pointing fingers pointed in any direction. But complaining about complainers is just as effective as the people complaining... it's not.

True enough. I actually bit that time--I should have realized it was bait. heh
So... back to the topic, then...?

Straw man
Straw man is exactly how I called it as well, hence the slightly cynical tone of my posts.

This is where the arguer builds something up so they can win a cheap point, examples on this thread:

1) What other device can run Maemo?

2) What device has Garnet VM and a FM transmitter??

3) What device uses last years technology (resistive) + is powerful by today's standards + has a hardware keyboard???

The real question might be which manufacturer would want/strive for the above?

I disagree with that whole premise (not the literary one) and I made that disagreement known. Clearly you don't agree. Yes, sir! Right away! Try this, for a change!
Here's some examples I found from there:
http://gadgetophilia.com/top-5-android-phones/ (Look at the LG GW620)
http://blog.laptopmag.com/dr-eye-mid...-facing-camera
etc...etc..

There's a few more out there too. All sorts of variations (keyboard with resistive touchscreen, no keyboard with resistive touchscreen, keyboard with capacitive touchscreen, etc.) if you just search for them. (i.e. http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2009/...ndroid-phones/) Their snarky "unlike all other" anti-resistive touchscreen remark, it seems like a nice unit.

Hope that helped a bit.
Thanks for the sources provided. Not specs to my liking on all of them but good effort.

Why you keep putting words in my mouth however, when my post said nothing of the sort, is to me not acceptable. This even after already I stated that "your interpretation" was not correct or even close. This to me is very disrespectful and totally unnecessary. It is what makes these forums drown in garbage these days.

I therefor welcome you to my ignore list. And also consider yourself reported. Have a nice day

your point of view is a bit naive isn't it? I bet there are a lot more beneath the surface than things you can read directly from the rant.

yes, you totally missed my point there.

Why are you then defending the anger from another side? your view is a bit biased to your personal agenda.

the point is still FUD. Should I believe your viewpoint straight away? Weren't you the guy who said no-one was working for PR1.3 some time ago? Facts or gtfo and stop yanking own opinions as a truth is my attitude

well, I'm hoping that the weird stuff goes to meego.org (and they take lessons from here and don't repeat the path tmo went) and maemo.org would get more peaceful.
