meego ux is based on Qml/QtQuick which is part of MeeGo 1.3

wmarone.. The main problem I have as said is Intel based portables..
ofcourse the kernel can be compiled to use Arm. But if Meego is focused around Intel and a shitty UI and you have to hack some other hardware and tweak an adaptation of Hildon that might or might not be good, then the issue lay with the OS.
I have issue with busybox as well. I would much rather see a native but slimmed down GNU. In my opinion the next step for an eventual Maemo 6 should be to have proper GNU compatibility and move Hildon from GTK to QT. Now that is Maemo 6. Several great non Intel Nokia hansets with hardware keyboard and stylus to accomodate that would be my wish.

sorry but why should meego be dead?
let's see the facts:

then they startet to copy stuff from the meego project that is primary driven by intel under the hood of the linux foundation. they stopped working with meego at the point they startet doing stuff with microsoft. hamattan (maemo 6) was, is and will always be a small experiement inside nokia. the main os at nokia is symbian and in the future it will be windows phone os.
that hamattan device (I'm very sure that is is hamattan) in the teaser everybody is talking about is the last incarnation of linux that we will see at nokia.
meego will be the future platform for intel mobile devices and maybe some phone from lg and many other manufactors.

You have to understand that I was waiting for a next generation Maemo before I was going to buy the smartphone. But when I heard about Meego, saw it and heard about Nokia+Microsoft I was so worried that i rushed out and purchased the N900, and I am considering buying another just to secure my Mobile future.
Nokia 900 is great and I am extremely happy about it hardware wise, software wise and function wise. Sure there are things that will be better, but i know people are making it better, I also know that when I start getting mich better with Linux/GNU/Open source tweaking and programming, then I can have all the features I want. I think Hildonis the best Mobile UI on the market, by far. It would begrudge me to take a step back.
I also hardly doubt Meego is really hardware agnostic like you say, sure the kernel is, but the hardware that will be made for it by Nokia will almost certainly center around Intel. Maemo would not be useful to me at this time if I did not have the N900. Sure it would be possible to make a half good hack for some other similar phone, but that would certainly not be 100 percent compatible solution. What my portable so great is the combination of the N900 with excellent hardware, and the great OS Maemo with a great usability UI.
Next generation I fear will be Intel based phones with Meego, softkeyboard only and fingertouch only on some UI that is more alike to Android or ios. which sucs compared to Hildon UI in my opinon. Such a thing is exactly what I do not want, having to hope for a great new Arm based hardware set where I have to port Meego and use a non native adapted UI, is also just not a good solution and not probable to happen.
But hey, for now I am extremely happy about the N900 and should focus on that and focus on forcing GNU libs onto it. or at least a comptibility layer of some sorts.

I have said this before and will say it again, if the drivers are not available for the N900 then nothing OS wise will get even close to Maemo and that also means MeeGo.
It is now the 19th May and we are supposed to be getting some statement from the MeeGo team regarding the latest build and not once anywhere has anyone said anything about drivers being available for the N900 in its entirety, so unless this happens we will no way get MeeGo for the device in any satisfactory way or form.

Hardware selection is no fault of MeeGo. None of that would be the fault of MeeGo. Enjoy your N900, though, I suspect it will probably be (hardware wise) the last of its kind for a while.
The next device will be based on what????? did you even hear that MS have now got the biggest say on future devices from Nokia? this is getting worse.
Your latter statement could very well be true i have to say.

IMHO its healthy and there seems to be great plans with QtQuick and QT5.0. Dont forget that QT is used on Linux desktop too. (KDE)
About Hildon there where some progress porting it too Meego. Dont know how serious. I Hope we will se a QTQuick based desktop in Meego. Or maybe some of the KDE plasma desktop :-D
