Problem: The memory card corruption issue is still there! (happened to me today... )

Fix: ??? Might try the SDHC kernel patch that worked good for me with last firmware? Anyone know if it is compatible with this OS?

Could someone please help me or blog or list the steps on how to flash my N800. I really want to go back to the previous OS. I am begging for help here. I have an n800 that is useless because of the new firmware update.

If you go to this page:

http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N800.php

when prompted, enter your WLAN mac address - you can find it on the sticker beneath the battery cover, enter it without columns eg. 00194f9e8f7e

Download RX-34_2007SE_3.2007.10-7_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin.

I assume you are using Windows, so start the Nokia Update wizard and switch off your N800 then connect it to your PC using the USB cable. Next, power on the N800 *while holding the Home key*. When the N800 is detected by the wizard, click "Next" then press the "Change..." button and browse to the firmware you downloaded above (v3.2007.10-8).

Follow the rest of the Wizard instructions and your N800 will eventually reboot with the previous firmware. You will lose all data and applications, which will need to be reinstalled etc.

Upgraded yesterday, followed thru with some app installs today.

With regards the python install and problems with installing direct from the install link @ http://maemo.org/downloads/product/python

I also received a message indicating missing files/components during the install from the above url.

So I followed thru to the home page for pymaemo installed the base repos and then followed that up with the python 2.5 installer and all installed well.

Direct URL: http://pymaemo.garage.maemo.org/installation.html

Hope this helps

Greetings:

I don't know about you people but I think the joke is on us, the N800 users.

The new firmware is out and we the users are doing all the quality control for the programers.
We the users are finding out all the bugs for them.

Hey the guy from Toronto(Howdee neighbour, I'm from Montreal) is right,
did the company beta test this new firmware or not?

Well looks like its being tested now by users who paid money.

I'm sure things will be fixed by the end of this week.

On the bright side, hey I think Nokia will win a Oscar this year, in two movies
this week nokia phones were the stars in movies, Transformers, and Live Free, or Buy a Nokia, Oops sorry that next year's movie.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone

Regards Robert

Seriously, the new firmware is working very well. Even the RSS reader seem to work correctly now, i.e. it seems like it doesn't drop unread entries when automatically refreshing. Battery life is getting close to what I'm seeing with the 770, with similar usage the 770 lasted for about 3 days while the n800 needed to be recharged at least once a day.

I had some issues with https, but toggling the sslv2 on and off and rebooting a couple of times seems to have fixed it. Probably restoring from backups messed up the opera configuration. I didn't have any textentry or scrollbar issues, probably because I never changed away from the default theme.

I think most problems that are being reported result from restoring old (and possibly incompatible) configuration entries from a backup that was made with the older OS installed. Maybe backup should record the OS release somewhere and restore should only restore a safe subset after an upgrade (list of repositories, documents and media files).

The only problem I've encountered is that when I select a link that opens a new browser window it actually seems to open 2 new windows that load the same link, but I think I had the same thing with all previous releases.

Still does it for me (unfortunately) For example, I have 1 article in my engadget feed, and I'm pretty certain there is more than 1 article in the engadget feed on the engadget web site!

Please vote for bug #953 if you haven't already done so!

Everything seems perfect except for....
1. The big thumb pad doesn't at all come when i touch the screen. And yes i have fiddled with the settings in the control panel..... but it just refuses to come up.
2. opEra is just crashing frequently ..... it says web internal error.
3. i Still cant download videos from rapidshare.....not that i could do on the previous version ! IF ANY ONE HAS A WORKAROUND FOR DOWNLOADING VIDEOS FROM RAPIDSHARE...... pleasE tell me. I used to download videos from megaupload previously ..... but i Cannot seem to get it working . the download button is not clickable .....
4. sometimes the backlight doesn't stop at all irrespective of the settings. and i am still frustrated with this sudden automatic caps lock bug.
