I'm not a guru, but I know GTK a bit, I don't know if I would be able to help, but I will know if you describe briefly (or comprehensively) what kind of help do we need (I'm a bit too overloaded and lazy to go to these sources and read them and check what parts are we still missing, sorry )

Well, nothing should be missing in the sources, those should be 100% binary and 99% source code equivalents to stock closed source packages.

libhildon-im-vkbrenderer.so.3.0.3 draws buttons on the VKB(it interacts with libimlayouts.so too).

hildon_western_fkb.so draws menu/numbers/space buttons and does clipboard interaction, autocomplete, language switching, etc and draws the buttons by calling libhildon-im-vkbrenderer.so.3.0.3

What is missing is proper portrait mode support :

The widget that should be set portrait mode support flag is priv->fkb_window created in hildon-im-western-fkb.c (AIUI)

The catch is that VKB layout should change when rotated, that is why I prefer someone knowing GTK better that me to play with GtkHBox/GtkVBox and such

EDIT:
BTW new .vkb files with proper vkb buttons layout will be needed too, but that should be a trivial(even if time consuming) task.

still fighting with calligra, if you can find someone else, then please do it, if i find time for this one i will report it here (unless you'll report you found someone else to work on this)

is there anyway to decrease the lot of writing area in vkb n thus increasing th size o keys and adding space for rows.

*extra rows for number/spcl character.. currently using ukbdcreator for editing vkb.
