That is a normal security feature requested by your workplace IT in order for you to use your email.

Well, what I find odd is that I don't have the same issue with Exchange on my iPhone.
Also, can this password be changed w/o having to delete & recreate an account? I could not find a way to do it.

But I had had set up a MfE account and during the setup I was asked for some security password.
The lock password was the same as that one; I did have an alphanumeric keyboard.
