Oh, the CEX in Birmingham has a used one 64gb, I'll go look at it today or tomorrow. Either it'll be a good buy at £300, or it wont.

So cross though :/

okay, some background...

got a N900 over 2 yrs ago
loved it from the 1st instant.
having a full blown Linux computer in my pocket ¦-)

after Fartocalypse (Feb '11) i finally decided to get a 2nd one, 2nd hand little or not used
USB port broke after a few months but lucky me, was still under warranty, so got... a N8
couldn't sell for a reasonable price, so decided to power it up & started shooting pics
fell in love with it
(eventually bought one of the last "new" N900 from a small phone shop who even gave me a 10% discount so glad they were to still get a buyer for it ¦-))))

running CSSU-thumb on the 2nd one as a dev but otherwise have to agree with Copernicus... N900 runs just fine on its own, even though Pali's kernel brings a bunch of nice additions (independently of OC)
primary still runs stock Maemo with Pali's kernel just fine.

this summer my contract was up for renewal and there was no N9 64GB available with contract, so i decided... to get a 808 PV

had Belle base installed, so made FP1 upgrade
as a thanks, NOKIA offers 5 free (paying) apps from OVI store
got Camera lover pack
alas, they decided not to support Panorama on the 808 PV (not sure it is available on L920, so could be PV related...) but Clp includes a "mini" Panorama function limited to 3 UXGA (1600x1200) pics
go figure

here is a shoot out between 808 PV, L920 and some dumb mobiles...
Nokia Lumia 920 and 808 PureView phones duel in low light shootout:

see for yourself
of course, nobody speaks about N9 anymore

but there are comparisons of N8 and 808 around...
Nokia N8 or Nokia 808 PureView: 10 things you need to know | NokNok.tv:

this is a batch of reviews
TechRadar review the Nokia 808 PureView:
there is a camera 808 vs N8 in it as well...
the guy somehow decided to settle for a PV 8MP mode which is due to the fact that saving the 38MP pics takes several seconds onto the 16GB internal flash
need to check a fast µSDM/XC to see if this can be improved.

final word on my NOKIA journey... expecting a white unicorn

I DID IT.

The one at CEX was 64gb and absolutely untouched, with box contents untouched. I got a discount too, for being nice to the young man behind the counter 5% off. He threw in a 3 prong charger cos the one in the box was european.

I loaded the camera, and it's good enough for me. What i really want to know is, what took me so long??

Now: i've sent a text or two and made a call, but now what?!?!

I must fix this.
Off to read about flashing - Nokia Suite says its "up to date" which is impossible.

Congrats on your N9, hopefully you'll love it as much as I do.

Maybe I'm missing out, but just for comparison I thought I would mention that I use neither FasterN9 of N9QuickTweak apps and am very happy with my N9 general performance.

You got me looking more at CEX, it's interesting to see how many N9's they appear to have (given it was never officially sold in the UK)

Its a Linux fan's wet dream, truly.
Thank you everyone, you're so right about what a pleasure this is to use compared to Belle, even the refresh version!!
