Thank you.
I have been so busy working on my own packages I haven't had any time to give to the Testing Squad.

Yes, zzztop needs a few more votes before promotion.

Continuing on from the discussion started here between sixwheeledbeast and myself (in order to not drag that thread further off topic).

There's clearly still a problem with the testing and promotion of packages and something needs to be rethought in order to make it work.

I put forward a couple of ideas in the linked thread. Perhaps we need another system altogether. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Unfortunately, the testing/voting/karma system does not notify maintainers when a package is ready for promotion.

Here are some packages that already have enough votes to be promoted:

Pierogi 1.1.41 uploaded by jpietrzak8 2015-02-11
fight 2048 1.0.0maemo5 uploaded by sixwheeledbeast 2014-06-21
IPv6 support 0.2 uploaded by pali 2013-08-08 dep wait
Opera-mobile 12.1beta1-16~fremantle0 non-free uploaded by ohrn 2012-10-16
Wargus - Warcraft II 2.2.7-1maemo1~fremantle uploaded by pali 2012-08-22 dep wait
E-Book Reader 0.5 uploaded by eugeniy 2012-07-07
Freeciv 2.3.2-1maemo5v1 uploaded by holgern 2012-04-15
OMWeather database for gismeteo.ru 0.9.8 uploaded by vasvlad 2012-04-09
Servizio Pubblico 0.3.8 uploaded by incrys 2012-02-29
CacheMe 0.8.15-1 uploaded by harbaum 2012-02-23
Qt Mobile Hotspot 0.3.5 uploaded by dest 2011-11-24

Take note:
There is a similarly named 'freeciv' package Freeciv 2.2.1-1 that was rejected from promotion (including a downvote from its own maintainer) on 2010-09-08.

[sorry for crossposting]

I suggested a mandatory monitoring&testframe wrapper around every app in *testing, which the user/tester would install as it's integrated into the package and which at runtime on target platform (N900) would check the app under test for excessive resource usage, anormal aborts etc. And after quiting the app-under-test, the testframe kicks in and asks the user to rate/comment the app regarding criteria relevant for QA, and then asks user for permission to directly send this report to maemo.org, as an alternative to manual voluntary voting for apps in testing.

Seems once there was a similar infra, called 'NITRO'. [edit] see http://maemo.org/development/documen...h-core-dumper/

cheers
/j

Thank you! I did keep checking on this for a few months, but it never seemed to get more than three votes... I have now promoted it. (I suppose I should go ahead and prepare the current version to be promoted as well, as it does have a few more useful bug fixes...)

Although IPv6 Support 0.2 is ready for promotion, it has dependencies on the following:
Osso-Ipv6 0.1-14 uploaded by pali 2012-09-14 3 out of 6
Libicd-Network-Ipv6-Scripts 0.3 uploaded by pali 2015-12-21 1 out of 6

Similarly, Wargus - Warcraft II 2.2.7-1maemo1~Fremantle has dependencies on:
Ffmpeg2theora 0.24-2maemo1 uploaded by pali 2010-07-12 5 out of 6
Timidity 2.13.2-39maemo1 uploaded by pali 2012-01-01 5 out of 6
Freepats 20100119-Maemo1 uploaded by apinheiro 2010-01-19 6 out of 6
Stratagus 2.2.7-1maemo1~Fremantle uploaded by pali 2012-08-20 5 out of 6

Freeciv 2.3.2-1maemo5v1 depends on:
Freeciv-Data 2.3.1-1maemo5v3 uploaded by holgern 2012-04-03 0 out of 6
Freeciv-Server 2.3.1-1maemo5v3 uploaded by holgern 2014-04-03 0 out of 6

While we are looking at Wargus' dependencies, it would be good to cast a final vote for Stargus - Starcraft 2.2.7-1maemo1~Fremantle so it can be promoted at the same time.

Updated, thanks testers!

fMMS 1.3.5-3 uploaded by peterleinchen 2014-06-15 6 out of 6
