^Amazon UK are saying the same. I'm afraid it means I shall cancel, and rethink. I may still buy an n900, but I won't hang round waiting.

I think I'll wait until 25th November. If nothing happens I buy a HTC Touch Pro 2 or the HD2...

Hopefully Nokia won't let that happen

Well mobilephonesdirect.co.uk are supposedly the first to ship the device in the UK. Why don't you contact them and see if they can offer you it sooner. If so go with them.

Their website says "mid November" which doesn't inspire a great deal of confidence.

MPD sent this out:

Dear Customer

As you may have read in the press, we’re sorry to confirm that delivery of your new Nokia N900 stock has been delayed to mid November – Our N900 stock when it arrives will be the first in the UK and orders will be dispatched on a first ordered, first served basis directly from our Nokia stores. Be assured that you are top of the dispatch list for a new Nokia N900 and you will not get the N900 anywhere else before this date, which for the moment is exclusive to Nokia direct sales channels.

Please accept our sincere apologies for this short delay and we thank you for your patience. Having read several reviews and personally used a pre-production N900 running with Maemo 5 operating system, be assured that the new Nokia N900 will be very much worth the short wait.

If you would like to discuss your pending order please email us at webshop@mobilephonesdirect.co.uk. For more details of the Nokia N900 please visit our new Nokia Retail website www.nokiaretail.co.uk or our main website at www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk

and the day before they told me:

Hi,

Delivery of Nokia N900 stock into our Nokia stores has unfortunately been delayed by two weeks to w/c 16th November.

So I think they are shipping on the 15th/16th.

They have always given the correct release dates (as far a nokia has told them). The 30th, and now the 15th. I don't know why people are thinking the phone is going to ship sooner than this... well maybe if you ordered directly from Nokia. But amazon UK wasn't going to ship sooner than the 15th. I would blame amazon for not having the correct dates listed, and not Nokia.

How do you know 'they have always given the correct dates as far as Nokia has told them'? Do you know what Nokia has told them? How do you know that Nokia didn't tell Amazon the 2nd Nov?

I don't see any benefit in switching from one supplier to another unless I can be sure I'll still be in the first batch of dispatches. I have no experience of shopping with them: what is their customer service like? How do they respond to returns? What if the device has a hardware fault and needs to go back? Those were my reasons for choosing Amazon.

MPD have always stated that they have an exclusive release date in the UK from the word go. They ship from their Nokia stores, and so their claims are a lot more reliable than Amazon in my view.

Regarding being part of the first batch - I don't know. That's why I said to ask them.

There customer service seems to be pretty good. All the info on returns etc is here:

http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/...ces/index.aspx

I've not done research on what Amazon offer however. I was just suggesting things.

I know what MPD say on their website. But there are companies out there who say on their website that they have n900 in stock. I have no reason to trust them. I am not a very trusting person when it comes to online suppliers: I don't even have a lot of confidence in the nokia shop itself.

Now, if lots of people come in and tell me that X supplier is reliable, trustworthy etc, then I might be persuaded. Otherwise, I might go see what Carphone Whorehouse have in stock and can sell me over the counter. Or stick with the supplier I know.

Well, I would have thought that if you had to put some amount of confidence in any route to getting an n900, Nokia shops would be the best bet.

Which UK companies are saying they have the n900 in stock?
