Hello everyone! My first post!

I bought my N900 last week and so far I am loving it. My initial impression of the device was excellent. I understood that this is still a learning process for both Nokia and me so I wasn't too critical of issues.

Number 1 thing that really impressed me was the resistive screen. It is by fat the best one I've used. very smooth and responsive. Although I still have to get used to scrolling a list without actually using an icon. lol

Here are some things I hope gets improved. These may have already been discussed but oh well...

Mail For Exchange - Google sync is one of my favorite features and I was disappointed that it is spotty with the N900. I understand from the developer that this is not an issue on Nokia's side but more of Google's implementation. So I hope Nokia bends a little for its customers or Google fixes it for us.

Phone - accessing the phone can sometimes be slow especially when using the Turning Control feature. From sleep whats the fastest way to get to call someone? Any tips?

Open processes - sometimes it lags when I want to close a process or a note like text.

These are some of the things I can think of right now. These aren't issues for me but more of a little bump on the road which I hope Nokia will smooth out in the coming weeks.

Thanks!

John

Finally got my N900 yesterday. Really loving the device! Great bit of kit! Not had any problems with the actual device as of yet but im quite p*ssed off that I can’t actually use the phone functions yet. The dumb guy at the Nokia shop put my port to go through (from my old 3 sim to my new Vodafone sim) next Monday. This means that my new sim doesn’t actually work yet and my old 3 sim isn’t being accepted by the N900 I knew this would be a problem before I purchased but didn’t think I’d need to use my 3 sim. So at the moment im stuck with a great internet tablet but still using my N95 as my phone… kinda took the joy out of getting the phone.

Anyway been having a little look though this thread for useful information. Found the link to MaeMaps which was quite cool, got that saved on my desktop now and tried downloading a few apps from the download section which was all cool.

Does anyone know if there is any kind of work around to getting 3 sims to work in the N900?

And also, is there any other useful links/information that could come in handy (such as MaeMaps)? Id be thankful for any advice tips or tricks.

Thanks people… hope your all enjoying you N900’s as much as I am!

I like everything about the phone except the battery issue, the phone is dying way too fast for unknown reasons.
I hope nokia will address this issue because its making me real sad, I want to enjoy the phone for longer hours and about 4 to 5 hours is way too little.

I don't know if an update will fix this?!!

Anyone have the brightness on the screen go in and out while using the device. Just a small brightness to darkness or a darkness to light while using it?

It's because your hand is casting an intermittent shadow on the ambient light sensor, and it's trying to compensate. But there's a time delay of a few seconds, so it's not obvious what's going on.

I wish there was a way to turn off this behaviour. I would be quite happy to change the brightness myself when I'm working in a dark place. It's only two clicks to adjust the screen brightness.

Regards,
Roger

Then if you brought it to your face it would hang up your phone call or close your phone app.

Let me guess, you're holding your thumb over the top left of the screen while holding it?
