Love the jockeying going on... Nokia + WP7 = suicide and other randomly blurted out, yet poorly backed up comments.

I wonder what will happen if WP7 isn't either: 1) an option or 2) the only option for Nokia going forward.

MS is the ex, and they divorced on good terms, apparently.

What kind of backing up you needed on the Nokia+WP7=Suicide thing?
Even after spending so much money on creating hype, MS was not able to sell even 2 million phones. Also, WM7 lacks the basic of the functionalities (atleast for now). Also, what about Nokia's investment in Qt? As Qt doesn't currently support WM7.

What will the developers use to develop? During this time, when both MS & Nokia are trying hard to gain developers, this is the last thing they need now. Confusion and Lack-of-direction!

Oh btw, Nokia has always been about being open and all stuff. And Microsoft the reverse. So, Nokia going WM7 in one go would be like an almost impossible thing for Nokians.

All said, I hope I am right. I definitely can't go and see whats in the minds of Elop and others. I never worked as an analyst so could be wrong too.

Nokia admittedly has been not effective in its execution of plans. But now, what can Nokia do to gather interest:
1. Keep trying to attract developers.
2. Find out what are the best apps used commonly by people across ecosystems and then go to those developers and ask/pay them to develop for your platform too. And according to me, THIS IS BIG & MUST.
3. Show commitment. I understand Nokia is planning for long-term strategies (kind of not that much known to American analysts btw) and it is common/possible that there are some drastic decisions that gets taken on course but thats how things are. But again, Nokia needs to show commitment to what they are doing. At the moment, the commitment is Qt (more than MeeGo) and let that be.

Point#2 is very important (atleast according to me). I would want Nokia to go to Amazon (Kindle), Game Developers (many out there), Netflix, Adobe, Banks (whoever has a banking app on the competition), Fring, Twitter, Facebook, Dropbox, Google (Gmail/Gtalk/Goggles, etc) and so on to ask them to create an app for their platform too. They should even commit support from their side for that. I bet, just in 6 months all those necessary apps can be ported to Nokia's platforms.

This is the right thing to do and this is what Nokia should be doing.
Initially, people get more interested/attracted in direct apps rather than 3rd party (though sometimes they could be better). Once they are into it, thats when they look at 3rd party stuff.

Elop has a wonderful chance to see things differently and act boldly. I hope he does what is right.

In conclusion, I would still continue to say:
Nokia + Qt = MeeGo, Symbian^3/4, WebOS, Android (currently via Alien Dalvik), Linux, Windows, Mac
is a way better solution than Nokia + WM7
